About Front Lights
Cycle light technology has moved on greatly over the years, traditional 'bulb' lights have been more or less replaced by LED and HID systems. Battery, lens and reflector technology has been improved greatly resulting in brighter and longer run times. Wiggle lists a large selection of bicycle lights suitable for lit streets in the city, or unlit country lanes and even bike lights suitable for off road riding, ranging from around £8 to over £300 they vary greatly in purpose and performance. Tiny LED's with flashing or constant modes are great for being seen in built up areas, whilst rechargeable systems can keep the road or off-road trails lit up for non-stop riding at night.
About the Light And Motion brand
Light and Motion are passionate outdoor enthusiasts who have the experience to engineer great equipment. This ideal environment allows them to put their designs to the ultimate test. Review from Cycling Plus
This is a great light that puts out a beam you can easily use to ride in poorly lit areas. Along the canal towpath it provided a bright if quite narrow beam, so it's probably best suited to long-distance commuters rather than off-roaders.
The LED is bang up to date but the NiMH battery isn't that high tech and it takes around 10 hours to charge fully - which you'll need to do regularly because of the limited run time.
The fins at the front are for cooling, and the rubber strap mounting system is straightforward. The Vega 120 is tough too.

Great illumination but limited run time and lengthy recharging
