A refined new titanium designed to offer a balance of strength, durability, handling, snap and performance never seen before in a titanium or Litespeed™ product.
We have learned from outside influences that barriers are set to be crossed and numbers to be challenged. The Archon™ challenges and exceeds the demands of today's rider with a product like no other. this Stage bike and all around performer is designed to offer a balanced strength - weight - compliance and stiffness ratio ensuring efficient and enduring power transfer. Our unique in-house 16 step finish process gives a new unique look to a Litespeed™.
Every development begins with a list of design goals to be met. Number one on the list for the Archon™ was stiffness. Not too much or too little.
It has the perfect amount 85N-m at the head tube and 150N-m at the bottom bracket. These are proven "sweet spots" of performance with any material.
The more these targets are exceeded, the greater fatigue is imparted from the frame to the rider. Achieving the targets in titanium offers additional benefits: Durability - bikes are precision tools rather than pieces of glassware. For Litespeed™, there's only one choice: Titanium. There is no compromise in any element of performance. We are the only company making this statement because no other builder is capable of what we do.

| WRAP™ | New to the Archon™ and Icon™ is WRAP™
Technology, a unique proprietary manipulation of Litespeed™ titanium
tubing to encompass our double-butted head tube and bottom brackets.
By encompassing more than 50% of the tube, it has essentially moved the
stress points beyond the frontal faces of the joining tubes and provided a
better distribution of stress within the joint. The result is head
tube stiffness far beyond what titanium has ever known. WRAP™
technology is the result of hours of testing and research to find the
exact amount of head tube stiffness we were seeking. Not too much,
not too little. The target value was known before the development
began. The balance of stiffness and ride quality has never been
achieved in titanium or other materials. WRAP™ technology was
developed by and is unique to Litespeed™.
At Litespeed™ we've pioneered Technical Titanium development such as WRAP™ within the cycling industry (as well as aerospace). It's the same thinking today as it has been for the past twenty years. | Seat Tube | The seat tube is ovalized in shape and wraps the bottom bracket. this wrap lies beneath down tube surface area, and increase in power transfer by creating a wider base for torque to be distributed. Power transfer is commonly lost when there is too much side to side flex in the bottom bracket. This allows for compatibility with all 35mm front derailleurs, whilst offering levels, of BB stiffness to titanium bike manufacturers. |
| Seat Stays | The new wide oval cross sections of the seat stays were designed for improved vertical compliance. The new design improves ride quality, the unique shaping helps resist lateral forces resulting in a more efficient rear axial more horizontal and increasing drivetrain efficiency. |
| Bi-Planar / Asymmetrical Chain Stays | The asymetic, double butted, multi cross sectioned chainstays have a wealth of benefits to the overall performance of the Archon™. The driveside chainstay, with its rounder cross section, best distributes the compressing loads while maintaining adequate drivetrain clearance and surface area contact with the bottom bracket. In contrast, the non-driveside chainstay has a flatter more ovalized profile, this shape has a higher resistance to the bending loads NOT found in the driveside. The bi-planar chainstay/bottom bracket junction posses an increased level of surface area contact. This greater contact surface area strengthens and stiffens the bottom bracket. These two uniquely different stays five the Archon™ the best drivetrain efficiency and performance while maintaining a balanced power transfer. |
About Road Frames
Road frames have come a long way in recent years with new advancements in technology and materials. Carbon fibre, aluminium and titanium are all widely used now as well as the more traditional steel tubesets. They all have their own advantages: aluminium offers good performance at a reasonable price, titanium offers ultimate performance at a premium price while carbon fibre offers superb comfort and performance at intermediate cost.
