At 285 grams, it's easily the lightest free ride helmet in the world. This extraordinary result was obtained by merging the NOVA3 design process with ULTIMALITE FIBRE (UL) composite. These latest technical innovations were fine tuned by MET and especially developed to increase the overall performance of the helmet.
Integral In Moulding Shell Construction
Fusion is carried out on the external surface of the helmet for reinforcement and longevity.
Safe-T Smart Closure
A micrometric occiptial retention system featuring both horizontal and vertical adjustment to distribute pressure on a broader surface to increase performance and comfort.
Gel 02 Front Padding
The world's first use of hypo allergenic and thermo-stabilising gel padding in a cycle helmet, providing totally incomparable fit and comfort. Replacing traditional fabric pads with gel keeps the head cool thanks to the natural capacity of gel to stay cool and dispel sweat when in contact. Security and fit is also improved as gel adjusts to the form of your head.
Removable Ventilated Visor
Protects the face and channels air towards the interior of the helmet for ultimate ventilation.
Adjustable Kevlar Straps
An ultra light, strong and durable material that guarantees safety, comfort and breathability.
About MTB Helmets
Off road cycle helmets feature plenty of ventilation with a large numbers of vents to help keep your head cool. Off road bicycle helmets will also usually feature a peak to help keep the suns glare and rain off your face. When looking for a off road cycle helmet you should consider the fit, style and level of protection it will offer as these need to match your riding style, if you like to push it off road at a fast pace then a more vented lid is highly recommended.
In order to cycle on the road or compete in a race it may be a legal requirement in your country to wear a helmet certified to a specific standard or an international equivalent. All helmets sold on Wiggle are certified and labelled with a European CE EN1078 standard. Please check your country’s requirements to see if this is sufficient and if necessary contact the manufacturer to see if this helmet has been additionally certified for your country.

Magazine reviews for Met Kaos Ultimalite MTB Cycling Helmet - 2011
Review from MBUK
This lid is a favourite or ours, combining a comfortable and secure fit with an extremely low weight construction.
Clocking in at a category leading 240g, its light weight is instantly noticeable out on the trail, as the helmet doesn't have to be locked as tight to your head to stop it moving.
Ventilation is excellent, the straps are thin and comfortable and it looks great too. The only area where it loses marks is the Safe-T Lite retention system which, while secure, needs two hands to adjust.
In conclusion...
Superlight, comfortable, great looking but on the fragile side for clumsy riders
Rating: 4/5
Review from Bikeradar
The most eye-catching part of the 195g Met Kaos Ultimalite is the £135 price tag. What do you get for your cash? An undoubtedly svelte, stiff and well vented shell, with soft Coolmax pads for comfort and an easily adjustable harness.
The Kaos Ultimalite is secure, well fitting and well vented, but you'd only pick it if money were no object and comfort rather than protection is your attribute of choice.
Bearing in mind that it's almost £45 more expensive than a regular Kaos, the decision has to be whether you can justify the extra cash in exchange for the weight saving.
Met claim the Kaos Ultimalite is the lightest freeride helmet in the world, and when you slip it on your head you can believe them – it almost feels as though you're not actually wearing anything! It's 55g lighter than a regular Kaos; on par with a road lid but with the styling for all-mountain use.
The drawback – and it may be a major one if you veer towards tough – is that there's much less coverage to the back of the head than other trail lids. It's marketed as the lightest freeride lid available, but we'd rather call it freeride-lite.
Hard to argue with the low weight though. Its secret lies in the ultra light composite construction.
And it's comfortable. Twenty-two large vents take care of ventilation and keep air flowing even at low speeds. The Coolmax padding is minimal but provides all that's needed for comfort, great sweat absorption and fast evaporation.
It's available in medium and large, with open mesh straps that are an effective comfort-enhancing detail.
In a Giro-dominated world, it's great to see an excellently designed lid that has good enough looks to rival the best, the rubberised finish is a great tactile addition and it's also available in white or grey fade.
In conclusion...
Exceptionally comfortable, but it comes at a massive cost
