About the Michelin brand

The Michelin tyres saga begins 1891, with the invention of the first demountable tyre for bicycles. Good alternative to normal inner tubes I've used the old 'Air-B' inner tubes for years with _very_ few punctures. Too early to make this claim for these Michelin Latex inner tubes, but they seem similar. The only down side is that latex (slowly!) leaks air, so they need topping up occasionally (i.e. every few days, rather than hours!). 08 July 2010
Is latex worth it? Not sure I would buy latex tubes again. Can't tell a difference in the ride and lose air quickly. Pressure drops significantly over night. 07 July 2010
Latex Tube Nice quality tube, very light and seems to absorb some bumps better than a normal tube even though running high pressure. If you want the lightest this is it. Latex does leak air over time and over 24hrs you will notice a difference however I check pressure before going out every time anyway. 30 June 2010
Simply the only inner tubes to buy I used ultra light 67 gram butyl inner tubes prior to these and I thought they were good until I experienced the silky smoothy ride of these tubes. Its remarkable, but these latex inner tubes seem to absorb vibration and because they are made from pure rubber they make your tyres comform better to the road surface. Note that these latex tubes are still very light at only 78 grams weighed on kitchen scales with a 60mm valve. In addition to the smooth ride these tubes come with a smooth valve - no thread to damage your pump valve head. Because latex is slightly porus you will need to check tyre pressure at least once a week but that should be a standard procedure before every ride no matter what type of tyre or innner tube you use. The other thing I like about these inner tubes is the quality feel. They feel solid and durable not like tissue paper feel of the ultra light butyl tubes. 30 June 2010

Yes, you can I am currently using them in Schwalbe Rocket Ron 33c cyclocross tyres. So the small amount of stretch you are wanting isn't a problem.

Plastic sleeve

Do I remove the plastic sleeve or leave it on? The valve hole is a bit tight to include the plastic sleeve.

I am thinking of adding heat shrink tubing to cover the tiny gap at the valve hole.

I have tried to leave it on, but it won't last long. You have to trim it to get the pump on. I now take it off and I do not hear any rattle or have any other problems with it off.

If you have carbon wheels then no don't remove it, the valve will wiggle around while riding and chew up your carbon rims.

You need the '700x22-23c'. Depending on your rims, either the 40mm or the 60mm value length. BTW, I am using the 40mm with my Campy Eurus wheels. I hate to see long valve length sticking out.

hello, you would need the 700x22-23c size, and then the valve length depending on your preference. i would say the 60mm, as then good for most normal non-deep rims.

Floor Pumps

Can I use Lezyne floor pump to pump air into these tubes? The only threaded part is where you screw the plastic cover.

So can the Flip-Thread Chuck work here? Can't visualise it.

Depends on rim depth. I use 36mm with Ambrosio Excellence rims and they are plenty long enough. The 60mm are for the deep Aero rims that are now on the market. Just compare with what you use now!

Depends on the depth of your rims but the 36mm will fit the standard shallow rim depth.

You can always use a valve extender for deeper section rims.

I have tried self adhesive patches with these tubes no problem. They are natural rubber so glue should also work in theory but I have no experience as these tubes rarely puncture!
