Don’t Predict the Future….Make it! Mizuno Wave Prophecy
- Pinnacle of Mizuno’s technology and design.
- Engineered for runners demanding outstanding performance and seeking the most responsive cushioned ride available.
- Two full length Waves replace the traditional moulded EVA midsole. Connected by a special compound rubber which is not only highly cushioned, but very light.
- When the heel hits the ground the wave disperses energy through the entire full length wave plates and then in one harmonious single movement, springs back an unparelleled responsive energy return into the forefoot area for a smooth toe off.
- Prophecy’s Wave system will go on delivering outstanding cushioning for much longer than traditional foam midsoles which often compress over time and lose their elasticity, cushioning and support.

A prophecy can be described as the process of a message being communicated to others; such messages typically involve divine inspiration or revelation of events to come. When Mizuno first introduced their groundbreaking Wave technology, they made the prophecy that someday in the future a mechanical midsole would give runners the ride of their dreams. And it’s safe to say the future has been made with the arrival of the Japanese brand’s most highly engineered technical running shoe to date – the Mizuno prophecy has been fulfilled.
The Wave Prophecy is Mizuno’s top of the range Summer 2012 running shoe and represents the very pinnacle of the brand’s technology and design. Engineered for runners demanding outstanding performance and seeking the most responsive cushioned ride available, the feeling of the Wave Prophecy is totally unique and expected to inspire interest amongst runners all over the world.
Two full length moulded Waves replace the traditional moulded EVA midsole, allowing the wearer to really feel the full dynamic effect of Mizuno’s Wave technology with optimal cushioned comfort and heightened responsive energy return. This is achieved by the design of integrating two Waves connected by cushioning pillars. When the heel hits the ground the Wave starts the cushioning process by dispersing the energy through the entire full length plates and then in one harmonious single movement, springs back an unparalleled responsive energy return into the forefoot area for a smooth transitional toe off.
In addition to delivering the obvious ride enhancements that are immediately apparent, the Prophecy’s Wave system will go on delivering outstanding cushioning for much longer than traditional foam midsoles which often compress over time and lose their elasticity, cushioning and support.
With the ultimate combination of cushioning and durability, the Wave Prophecy is truly an exciting running shoe for runners everywhere.

Revolutionary Infinity Wave provides the ultimate in cushioning, rebound and durability by reducing the shoes reliance on midsole foam |
| The Tech: Developed in Mizuno's Sozo Studio SmoothRide Engineering is designed to minimise the rapid acceleration and deceleration of the foot through the phases of the running cycle by reducing shock and increasing flexibility. This allows Mizuno to create running footwear that provides an extremely comfortable running experience through an even smoother ride. Cushioning at heel strike, the angle of the medial wave and midsole materials combine to achieve Mizuno
Smoothride.
What it does: Mizuno design philosophy. Links Mizuno technical components from heel strike to toe off to achieve maximum comfort, feel and performance. |
|
| Full-length midsole ventilation system reduces heat and humidity build-up inside the shoe | |
| Provides the utmost in breathability and comfort of the upper | |
| The Tech:
X10 is made from Carbon Rubber. Located at the heel on the outsole.
What it Does: X10 is made of carbon rubber and protects high wear areas, and provides more traction at heel strike |
|
| The Tech: Developed by the revolutionary Sozo Studio. Extensive high speed video analysis showed how shoes distort in the collar and heel counter during the gait cycle resulting in loss of fit and causing heel slippage. The DynaMotion Fit system allows the upper of the shoe to interact with the movement of the foot. This relieves the stress on the upper which causes the distortion and results in fit being maintained throughout the full range of the movement. What it does: More comfortable better fitting trainers. Ensures superb heel fit. |
|
| Gender Engineering | Based on Biomechanical
research into the differences between mens and womens gait. Mizuno
constructs the Midsole/Outsole of each gender differently to improve the
ride, performance and comfort.

The Tech: Revolutionary New Midsole material. Lighter weight with increased cushioning durability. AP+ (Acceleration Polymer) only losses 20% of its cushioning after 600km. All Midsoles have a mileage as over time the material compresses. Mizuno's new AP+ Midsole takes longer to compress, therefore staying more cushioned for longer.
What it does: The AP+ Midsole provides a lighter more cushioned trainer for longer. |
About Cushion Running Shoes
To determine the correct type of running shoe for your feet, use the tried and tested "wet foot test". Dip your foot into water and then stand on a surface that will show your footprint - a towel or piece of paper or cardboard. The shape of your wet footprint indicates the amount of stability you might need in your shoe.
If your footprint looks like the one on the right (with a very narrow band or no band at all between the forefoot and the heel) then you should choose shoes from the cushion category on this page Cushioned shoes generally have the softest midsoles and the least added stability. They're built on a semicurved or curved last to encourage foot motion, which is helpful for runners who have rigid, immobile feet (underpronators). You should buy these if you're an efficient runner whose feet don't roll inwards excessively (overpronate) when you run.
