Top Features of the Mizuno Wave Precision 13 Shoes AW12
The Precision has been recognised as one of Mizuno's most popular shoes in recent years, with faster neutral runners loving the level of cushioning for such a relatively light shoe.
- Precision 13 updates: New upper overlay and new colourway
- Mens
Distinctively Japanese in its styling, the Precision 13 treats runners to some of the best running shoe technology available. The TPU Parallel Wave provides optimal cushioning and flexibility, whilst an updated AIRmesh upper provides a high standard of breathability for the life of the shoe.
Dynamotion Fit relieves stress that the foot normally puts on the upper and eliminates distortion for a perfect fit whilst AP+ Midsole provides a lightweight, high rebound midsole material to give greater momentum at take-off.
The Precision 13 is ideal for faster neutral runners looking for a light trainer to race or train in but it will also suit slower runners looking for a fun shoe for speed work. The fun of this shoe is its effortless transition. This really allows runners to turn up the pace when they want to and it is well cushioned enough for really long runs where the open mesh keeps feet ventilated and cool.

Revolutionary Infinity Wave provides the ultimate in cushioning, rebound and durability by reducing the shoes reliance on midsole foam |
| The Tech: Developed in Mizuno's Sozo Studio SmoothRide Engineering is designed to minimise the rapid acceleration and deceleration of the foot through the phases of the running cycle by reducing shock and increasing flexibility. This allows Mizuno to create running footwear that provides an extremely comfortable running experience through an even smoother ride. Cushioning at heel strike, the angle of the medial wave and midsole materials combine to achieve Mizuno
Smoothride.
What it does: Mizuno design philosophy. Links Mizuno technical components from heel strike to toe off to achieve maximum comfort, feel and performance. |
|
| Provides the utmost in breathability and comfort of the upper | |
| The Tech:
X10 is made from Carbon Rubber. Located at the heel on the outsole.
What it Does: X10 is made of carbon rubber and protects high wear areas, and provides more traction at heel strike |
|
| The Tech: Developed by the revolutionary Sozo Studio. Extensive high speed video analysis showed how shoes distort in the collar and heel counter during the gait cycle resulting in loss of fit and causing heel slippage. The DynaMotion Fit system allows the upper of the shoe to interact with the movement of the foot. This relieves the stress on the upper which causes the distortion and results in fit being maintained throughout the full range of the movement. What it does: More comfortable better fitting trainers. Ensures superb heel fit. |
|
| Anatomic moulded insock for comfort and cushioning | |

The Tech: Revolutionary New Midsole material. Lighter weight with increased cushioning durability. AP+ (Acceleration Polymer) only losses 20% of its cushioning after 600km. All Midsoles have a mileage as over time the material compresses. Mizuno's new AP+ Midsole takes longer to compress, therefore staying more cushioned for longer.
What it does: The AP+ Midsole provides a lighter more cushioned trainer for longer. |
About Cushion Running Shoes
To determine the correct type of running shoe for your feet, use the tried and tested "wet foot test". Dip your foot into water and then stand on a surface that will show your footprint - a towel or piece of paper or cardboard. The shape of your wet footprint indicates the amount of stability you might need in your shoe.
If your footprint looks like the one on the right (with a very narrow band or no band at all between the forefoot and the heel) then you should choose shoes from the cushion category on this page Cushioned shoes generally have the softest midsoles and the least added stability. They're built on a semicurved or curved last to encourage foot motion, which is helpful for runners who have rigid, immobile feet (underpronators). You should buy these if you're an efficient runner whose feet don't roll inwards excessively (overpronate) when you run.

Answers
So it depends what you were looking for. If it is a shoe to do all your running in you might be better in the Enigma, but if you're looking for something for shorter faster runs then the Precision would be ideal. It does also depend on your weight.
Hope this helps.
