About Flat Pedals
Flat pedals are ideal for those not wanting to use a clipless pedal system, they provide a large grippy platform for normal shoes to grip too. You can fit toe clips and straps to some flat pedals to benefit from pulling upwards when pedalling on hills or accelerating, these tend to be more for road/commuting use. Generally the main use for most types of this pedal now is Freeride or Downhill where quick placement and removal of the foot is essential.

You are right: no grease port. But not complicated to do either.
Keep in mind when unscrewing pedals from chainset:
- Right pedal screw is normal - unscrew counterclockwise
- Lesf pedal screw is odd - unscrew clockwise
Quick fix: remove pedals, place them with the screwed axle pointing upward and pour liquid lube along the rotating axle. Wait 1 min and make them spin for 1 min.
Deep fix: remove pedal and get the axle out - reach the bearing. Grease with white solid grease (Lithium-based) and re-assemble.
