MuleBar believe there is no energy like natural energy which is why MuleBar is made from 100% natural, seriously tasty ingredients.
- 100% Natural Energy Bars
- Food Type: Energy
Flavours include:
Apple Strudel - Organic Apple, Cinnamon and Raison: There are layers of flavour in this bar which you just don't expect from an energy bar: the organic apple is a a great mix with cinnamon and then ripe, sweet raisins. Have a good look at the wrapper too, the moon's been swapped for an apple! Strudel is Soil Association organic with 240 calories per bar and 1006kj of energy..
Liquorice Allsports - Organic Liquorice and Fennel Seeds: This is THE energy bar. A lot of feedback from triathletes, cyclists and other long distance people has been that it would be great to have something which isn't another fruit energy bar. Liquorice is exceptionally good for the digestive system apart from also being a great healer. It's Soil Association certified organic and delivers a kicking 270 calories with 1128kj of energy.
Chocolate Fig Fiesta - Chocolate, Fig and Crushed Almond: This is MuleBar's personal homage to all the great things about Spain, or maybe they should say Fiestas. Rich, high 70% cocoa content chocolate, mixed with figs and flaked almonds leap out of the bar and stay with you mouth after mouth. Each Chocolate Fig Fiesta Mulebar delivers 343kj of calories per 100 grammes.
Mango Tango - Organic and Fairtrade Mango and Cashew Nut: Take the highest quality, Fairtrade dried mango from Uganda, add cashew nuts and our high energy natural base of Mulebar and you can see where the Tango comes from. Each Mango Tango bar delivers a kicking 371kj of calories per 100 grammes. This Mulebar does contain gluten, soya, dairy, nuts and seeds.
Pinacolade - Pineapple, Coconut and Goji Berry: Exactly what you'd think is in this bar: a slice of pineapple with a heavenly shot of coconut. But for the added surprise topping we've found Chinese Ghoji berries for their vitamin C enhancing capabilities. Each Piñacolada Mulebar delivers 343kj of calories per 100 grammes.
Hunza Nut - Organic and Fairtrade Apricot and Walnut: In the Hunza Valley of Northern Pakistan, the apricot is referred to as Hunza Gold - the original name for our bar until someone's lawyer told us we couldn't call it that . The apricots are Fairtrade and unsulphured and when mixed with good old fashioned Walnut they provide a true Christmas cake of an energy bar. Each Hunza nut delivers 338kj of calories per 100 grammes.
Summer Pudding - Raspberry, Cranberry and Blackcurrant: To celebrate MuleBar being the Official Energy Bar to the Tour of Britain and The prostate Cancer Charity Tour Rides, we have created this Summer fruits flavour. A pudding of a bar with Raspberry, Cranberry and Blackcurrant. It's full of kickin' energy like all our bars and is one of those classic lovely, fresh summery tastes.
About Energy & Recovery Food
An energy bar is a dietary supplement consumed by athletes or other physically active people to maintain their calorific needs in light of their strenuous physical activity. As the name indicates, they are mainly a source of food energy, primarily complex carbohydrates.

The Environment
We set the company up as a 1% For The Planet Company, dedicated to donating 1% of sales every year to environmental groups protecting our natural world. Two of our four Mulebars are Fairtrade accredited but watch this space as we are working hard with fruit and other ingredient producers around the world to make all our bars Fairtrade.
The Beginnings
We made the first Mulebars in our own kitchens, mainly at night or in the afternoons skiving off the day job just before a ride. The first bars were pretty tasty or at least all our friends and family said so and that gave us the encouragement to develop them further testing them in extreme endurance races as well as just as daily snacks.
And now...
Over the past 3 years, since coming back from the Andes, prototype after prototype has been made, tried by friends, raced with in South Africa’s Cape Epic 9 day stage race, climbed with in the Alps, wheeled along with in the Etape du Tour and used in many children’s lunch boxes. And, we've just come back from the Trans Scotland mtb race where the bars were about the only thing which kept us going.
A great pinnacle for Mulebar is that Amy Beaton, one of our exceptional Mules, took Mulebar to Everest this May.

Magazine reviews for MuleBar 24 x 56g Bars
Review from Bikeradar
Here is a bar with ingredients you can recognise. A mixture of dried fruit, oats and nuts provides a lot of carbohydrate, and the low fat content means this bar would be quickly digested.
It's soft and easy to eat. Not as sticky as pure apricots, not as dry as oats. The makers characterise it as 'fuel for adventure'.
The sugars (from rice syrup and apricots) will be absorbed rapidly and starchy carbohydrate (from oatmeal and oats) will provide a sustained flow of sugars into the bloodstream.
In conclusion...
The good quality ingredients and absence of unnecessary preservatives or colourings make this a bar you could eat as a regular pre-ride snack, or to keep you going on a long ride
Rating: 4/5
Review from Cycling Weekly
Mule Bars were developed by a guy who wasn't impressed with the selection of energy bars available. He started making his own in the kitchen and after feedback from friends has now got what is probably the tastiest bar on the market.
Mule now has a selection of six different flavours. The bars are wrapped in a loose package that is easy to open and get the bar out of while on the move.
The consistency of the Mule Bar is neither too hard to bite off or too soft that they break and fall apart. Even in sub-zero temperatures the bars were easily chewable.
Mule flavours are distinctive yet not overpowering and do not have any after taste.
In conclusion...
The Mule Bar is a little pricey for training at around £1.30 a bar, but for racing they are far superior in both taste and operation to the competition
