This Museeuw Bikes MF-1 Frameset 2010 is no longer available although you may find similar or newer versions below:
MF stands for Museeuw Flax. The MF-frame is a monocoque lug-look flax carbon frame, with flax and carbon used in the three main tubes of the frame, as well as in the forks and rear-stays.
|Wheel Size:||700c (622)|
The flax-fibre absorbs microshocks, which is why the Museeuw MF-frames offers the highest comfort over any full carbon frame. More comfort means improved ride quality.
While designing the new MF-1 Museeuw Bikes frame builder, Roberto Billato, had one goal: to maximize the riding comfort in a full-option high-end race frame.
As this frameset uses the integrated aero sea tpost, which is not specified on the MF-01 road bike, you will also receive the seat post saddle adapter (pictured on the zoom image).
The Gadget Show
Wiggle supplied a Museeuw MF-01 to Channel 5's, The Gadget Show. In this episode, Suzi and Jason compete against each other to cover the 26 mile course of the London Marathon, not just on foot, but using a number of high-tech transportation gadgets. Jason cycles a leg of the course on our fabulous Museeuw MF-01. See how he gets on by copying and pasting this link into your browser: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/h/option/cycling-videos#gadget
Road frames have come a long way in recent years with new advancements in technology and materials. Carbon fibre, aluminium and titanium are all widely used now as well as the more traditional steel tubesets. They all have their own advantages: aluminium offers good performance at a reasonable price, titanium offers ultimate performance at a premium price while carbon fibre offers superb comfort and performance at intermediate cost. It is not uncommon for the materials to be mixed to give the benefits of all the materials in one frame - a carbon fibre rear end on an aluminium frame, for example. Here at Wiggle we list a selection of road frames to suit most budgets, from the affordable aluminium frames right up to the technically advanced carbon and titanium frames from leading manufacturers.
Johan Museeuw, Fangio Reybrouck and Joris Van Raemdonck founded Museeuw Bikes in 2007.
The goal was to produce a complete line of race bikes. While other manufacturers have been working with carbon composites for many years, Museeuw Bikes chose to use a new innovative composite blend: a mixture of chemical fibre (carbon) and a natural fibre: flax. From the beginning they believed that this new Flax-Carbon composite had special characteristics that were suitable for use in the production of bicycle frames and components.
Johan Museeuw is still very much active in the company that is his namesake. He continues to be the face and the voice for Museeuw and is responsible for all Museeuw public relations. Even with this busy schedule he still finds time to ride. Each and every design is given his personal feedback and endorsement after extensive real-life road testing. There is always room to improve, and with our special Flax-Carbon there are unlimited opportunities to create that “prefect “ mixture of race performance and rider comfort.
In the summer of 2009 Museeuw Bikes proved scientifically that Flax-Carbon works as anticipated. Comparative tests with other well know hi-end carbon frames was carried out by Dave Luyckx, Master of Science in Composites. His test results was obtained through rigorous in-field testing under controlled conditions. The resulting data proved conclusively that that a Flax-Carbon frame absorbs the microshocks up to 20% better than any conventional carbon fiber frame.
Museeuw Bikes has also signed an agreement with the University of Ghent to do further research in order to find out how to effectively use the characteristics of Flax-Carbon for optimum results.
On June 29th in Lokeren, Belgium the home of Museeuw Bikes, the entirely redesigned Museeuw 2010 Museeuw Bicycles, and the campaign “To feel is to believe” was presented to a select audience to the press. It was greeted with universal accolades.
