Top Features of the New Balance M860RS2 Shoes SS12
- Acteva Ultra Lite midsole offers the ultimate in lightweight responsive cushioning and provides a ride second to none
- Strategic cushioning maximises cushioning at point of impact, whilst offering a plush, smooth and responsive transition
- The 860 contains Abzorb and N-ergy: For pure cushioning in the heel and forefoot, Abzorb softens the impact, whilst absorbing and displacing shock with each foot strike. N-ergy at the heel provides a unique cushioning experience. As it compresses upon impact, it absorbs heel shock, whilst helping stabilize the foot as the heel displaces, slowing the rate of pronation. N-ergy then rebounds to provide a rebound effect for push off for maximum responsiveness
- Dual density post to aid support and work in combination with the Stabilicore post for superior support
- Stability Web delivers superior support in the midfoot whilst reducing the overall weight of the shoe. Positioned under the arch, Stability Web allows for torsion and flexion control in the arch whilst maintaining flexibility in the forefoot
- Full length Abzorb strobel board provides additional cushioning and a plush feel to the the shoe
- Ortholite insole provides long lasting durability, breathability and cushioning
- Lightning Dry upper is a superior fabric that provides great breathability and helps keep the feet cool, dry and comfortable
- Ndurance rubber compound for maximum durability at the heel
- Blown rubber forefoot for a soft plush feel at push off
- Mens
The 860v2 has evolved from the best selling 860 but still offers the great blend of cushioning and support. This shoe will suit all runners that need a moderate level of support from the beginner to the experienced marathon runner.

About Stability Running Shoes
To determine the correct type of running shoe for your feet, use the tried and tested "wet foot test". Dip your foot into water and then stand on a surface that will show your footprint - a towel or piece of paper or cardboard. The shape of your wet footprint indicates the amount of stability you might need in your shoe.
If your footprint looks like the one on the right (with a a flare, but with the forefoot and heel connected by a broad band.) then you should choose shoes from the stability category on this page. Stability shoes offer a good blend of cushioning, medial support (to limit excessive inward rolling of the foot, which can cause injury) and durability. To provide stability, they often have a medial post or dual-density midsole - these are features that provide a firmer density under the inner edge of your foot. You should buy these if you’re a midweight runner who doesn't have any severe motion control problems and wants a shoe with some medial support and good durability
The Normal Foot
Normal feet have a normal-sized arch and will leave a wet footprint that has a flare, but shows the forefoot and heel connected by a broad band. A normal foot lands on the outside of the heel and rolls inwards slightly to absorb shock. It's the foot of a runner who is biomechanically efficient and therefore doesn't need a motion control shoe.
Best shoes: Stability shoes with moderate control features.
About the New Balance brand
New Balance running shoes of all types and great running gear available here at wiggle.
During the 20th century in Boston, Massachusetts William J. Riley, committed himself to helping people with problem feet by making arch supports and prescription footwear to improve shoe fit.
In 1934, Mr. Riley went into partnership with his leading salesman, Arthur Hall, who later sold on the business in 1954 to his daughter and son-in-law, Eleanor and Paul Kidd. Arch supports and prescription footwear remained the cornerstone of their business until 1961 when they manufactured The Trackster, the world's first performance running shoe made with a ripple sole and available in multiple widths. The Trackster soon became the shoe of choice for college running coaches and YMCA fitness directors.
When Jim Davis bought the company from the Kidds on the day of the Boston Marathon in 1972, he committed himself to uphold the company's founding values of fit, performance, and manufacturing.
When Anne Davis began her journey with New Balance in 1978, her focus became building a superior culture for NB associates and those who do business with the company around the globe.
