The Nike Free Run+ 3 Women’s Running Shoe offers a barefoot-like ride with the cushioning, traction and underfoot protection of a traditional shoe. Its low-profile midsole doubles as an outsole, dramatically reducing overall weight.
- Upper: Breathable mesh and a multi-layer construction for a lightweight, second-skin-like fit. Adaptive fit midfoot construction brings customizable comfort.
- Outsole: Brs 1000 carbon rubber heel and environmentally preferred rubber for durability. Waffle piston outsole enhances cushioning and response.
- Midsole: Sculpted phylite midsole/outsole for lightweight support and cushioning. Deep nike-free sipes enhance flexibility for a barefoot-like ride.
- Profile: Blends the strengthening and injury prevention benefits of barefoot running with the comfort and protection of a shoe. ~7. 1 oz (w8)

ORIGINS: After learning that Stanford athletes had been training barefoot on the university's golf course, three of Nike's most innovative and creative employees set out to develop a shoe that felt natural and weightless, similar to bare feet. In 2002, they examined a group of men and women with pressure-measuring insoles taped to their feet, using high-speed cameras to capture images of each foot in motion.
The team spent eight years studying the biomechanics of shoeless running. The results yielded a profound understanding of the foot's natural landing angle, pressure and toe position, allowing Nike designers to build an unconventional and flexible running shoe from the inside out.
Glove-Like Fit The Dynamic Fit system is made up of 'fingers' of soft material that wrap the midfoot and arch, tailoring the shoe perfectly to your foot. For added support and comfort, the moulded sockliner mimics the foot's curvature.
Flexibility: Flex grooves along the length and width of the outsole enhance flexibility and help maintain stability for a more natural stride. For added flexibility and to help increase foot strength, the Nike Free Run+ 3 also has diagonal cuts through the arch area.
Seamless Feel: The upper offers lightweight support right where you need it, with seamless overlays for a supportive, skin-like fit.
About the Nike brand
Nike Running is a company founded in 1972 in Oregon, USA by runners, for runners, Nike revolutionised the concept of cushioning in shoes with it's patented 'Air' technology in 1979, and some of the most famous running shoes ever have featured the famous Swoosh logo, including the iconic Nike Air Pegasus. As part of an ongoing quest for innovation and improving the experience for runners at every level, the brand launched Nike Plus in 2006. This allows real-time tracking of data during runs which is then stored as an online log, with each member becoming part of a global running community. Initially launched to be compatible with the Apple ipod nano for runners who love music, it was extended in in 2008 to include the Nike Plus Sportband for runners who chose to move without music.
