It's super bright 1/2 watt central LED puts out enough light to ensure you are seen from as far as a mile away. NiteRider then combine this super bright LED with a special lens that spreads the light horizontally, but not vertically.

The horizontal dispersion of light ensures you'll be seen by anyone, anywhere behind you. And if thats not enough, the super bright central LED is flanked by a couple of additional ones that combine to make its startling flashing mode the most noticeable around.

The NiteRider Cherry Bomb fits in seconds to either your seatpost or bag with its integrated clip. It has also been designed to run just as well on rechargeable batteries (many lights suffer from poor performance with rechargeables), so you can be kinder to the environment. All in all it is the ultimate commuter tail-light.

About Rear Lights

Almost all bicycle rear lights use LEDs instead of filament bulbs as they are more reliable and use much less battery power, whilst also offering much higher levels of brightness. Used in flashing mode, they are very good at attracting attention from other road users. It's advisable to use at least two rear bike lights, a common configuration is one flashing and one in constant, this is highly advisable just in case one stops or becomes obscured.

In order to cycle on the road it may be a legal requirement in your country to use a light certified to a specific standard or an international equivalent. Most but not all lights sold on Wiggle are certified and labelled with a European CEN standard. Please check your country’s requirements to see if this is sufficient and if necessary contact the manufacturer to see if this light has been additionally certified for your country. Strangely some of the very best lights are not legal on their own and should be used with an additional legal backup light.

OMG don't stand loo close!!! All too often attention is only paid to the front light on bicycles and precious little on the rear light even though it is imperetive that cyclists riding at night be seen from behind by other road users. Thats where many acccidents come from. This light provides undeniable protection to cyclist by drawing attention to their presence by a solid bright flashing light that commands attention. This light doesn't easily fade into a background of night lights but draws other road users attention to it. All at a very reasonable cost! The unit is well made, easy to change batteries which have a long life, easy to mount on the bike, adjustable to the following traffic and flashes with a brilliance and power that can be seen from quite a distance. OMG.....will you look at that!!!!! 12 July 2010

random flashes Nice and bright BUT keeps doing random flashes when in my courier bag for no apparent reason. Nothing's pressing the button. My worry is that when I really need to use it some evening, the juice will have all gone. Apart from that a really powerful light. 02 July 2010

Cherry Bomb rear light Wow, what a rear light! Probably the best rear light I've ever had. It states that it is visible from one mile away. Not tested this but I'm sure that must be right, perhaps you might be able to see it from the moon. Having said all that I'm still sure old Smidsy will still miss it, but I'd be surprised. Feel much more confident with this at my rear. 01 July 2010

Hi, the light comes with both seatpost mount and bike rack mount with several rubber shimmeys so the fitting options are good. Hope this helps.

Good question. The supplied bracket would not fit to a normal rack; you'd have to get an adaptor. A fellow cycle commuter has cut a length of broom handle and affixed it to his rack as a multiple light mount: very effective.

You're supposed to be able to mount this light directly onto clothing, but I wouldn't risk it: seems too likely to fall off, and harder to control directionality which seems to be important to this type of light.

I came across the same problem, common to all such fixings: the diameter of the compressor ring is too big for a thin metal bar of a cycle rack, like the Blackburn. My workaround was to drill a hole in a length of wooden dowelling (any wooden cylinder will do). Then cut it in half, using a Stanley knife (carpet cutter tool). If the diameter of the cylinder and of the drilled hole is right, you will be able to use it as a filler that will grip the metal bar perfectly inside the compressor ring.

If your rack is like mine it will have a flat light mount panel at the rear. The Cherry Bomb can be fixed to this with a cable tie very easily and will point rearward as a result....easy!!

With what you get in the box no. It only comes with a mount for a seatpost. The clip on the back of the light is part of the back casing for the light so can not be changed. Having a quick look at the NiteRider website it doesn't look like they sell a mount to attach to a rear rack. You could use zip ties or something similar if you wanted.

Yes, they are all red. The LED under the clear panel is a super bright LED that only emits red light, so when it is turned on, the whole unit looks red.

The centre (and brightest of the three lights) appears white when turned off but when lit is a very bright red the same colour as the other two. The white colour is the prism in front of the LED which gives out the red light. The prism is what gives this light the power and spread to make it so powerful and effective!!

Answer:

If the bag's got a horizontal loop no more than 15-20mm in width, you shouldn't have a problem. The belt hook feature has a sharp, positive retaining 'tooth' which should prevent it from bouncing off.

It would probably be quite hard to fit this light to a flat seat post but if an underseat bag were fitted then the light can easily hook onto the loop at the rear of the bag which many of these products have as standard. Thats where I mount mine and it sits there quite securely and points in quite a good direction at following traffic.
