Orca's research and development team has worked with the world's leading endurance distance athletes to re-engineer the Orca 226 Kompression Racesuit to set a new benchmark for performance, comfort and durability. Orca's 70 denier Killaskn Kompress fabric is scientifically proven to provide optimum levels of active and graduated compression, and is used in the leg and shoulder areas to help athletes to race further, faster. Panels of the new Tri-Enduro mesh fabric are used across the back for higher levels of breathability and moisture wicking. The latest generation Vapour fabric has been refined for an even better fit and comfort. The 3.5mm Tri-tech chamois gives increased protection on the bike, and comfort on the run. Other endurance distance-specific features include safety elastic pockets, reflective elements for visibility in low light, comfortable, low drag Hydroseal leg hems, and a new internal chest pocket, perfect for nutrition or a music player.

Whilst working as a swim coach, and from his first hand experience in competing in triathlon, Scott Unsworth realised that the wetsuits used at the time were completely inadequate for swimming. In 1992 Scott started up a company called Performance Speedsuits Ltd, based out of his parent's house in Auckland, New Zealand. He began to develop his "Speedsuits", which featured greater flexibility and buoyancy than other existing wetsuits. The business started with Scott selling his Speedsuits from the back of his car at swim meets and triathlon events. The Speedsuits quickly gained a following amongst athletes and the business started to grow. Scott was taking his first steps towards introducing what would become Orca, to the world. A young New Zealand triathlete named Hamish Carter became one of the first athletes to sign up with the company that is now Orca. Over the next 13 years Hamish Carter went on to become one of the best known triathletes in the world - culminating in a gold medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

Designed for long distances, the 226
Kompress from triathlon stalwarts Orca
performs just as well in short events. The
mostly meshy upper didn't seem to slow
the close-fitting suit down in the pool
and was comfy and unrestrictive on the
shoulders. Its lightness also helped the
suit to drain quickly. Jumping on the bike
revealed the best chamois pad on test:
incredibly comfy and shock absorbent
without being at all cumbersome.
The enveloped rear pockets are aero
and ample for gel storage. The mesh
panels meant the 30cm zip stayed up
throughout testing and the legs were
also compressive and supportive without
being overly tight. This feeling continued
when running, where the wicking was
exceptional but the traditional shoulder
seams weren't as comfy as laser cut types.
