Ortlieb MudRacer Medium Saddle Pack with LED 4.1 5 25 25

Didn't fit and has no adaptor fittings available i wanted a decently sized waterproof saddle bag and this one with the light built in stuck ut for me. However it wouldn't fit my saddle/seatpost combo. I have a charge spoon on an FSA carbon seatpost with a slight setback, but the fittings provided just did not fit. Other manafacturers like topeak sell alternative fitments but ortlieb have nothing like this available at all which is a great shame for a £30+ saddle bag. I can't fault the quality and the look of the bag but the restrictive nature of compatibility is a serious down side. 29 June 2010

Great saddle pack My main reason for purchasing the Mud racer saddle pack was because the rear light is attached to the pack itself, making it very clear for cars to see. My previous set up involved a fabric saddle bag, and post mounted rear light which meant the the light was obscured to other road users from particular angles. I do a regular commute no matter the weather so have had problems with other saddle packs wearing out, and losing rigidity and the tools inside going rusty due to repeated soakings. Thissystem is completely waterproof so has solved this completely. My only complaints are that I went for the medium size (I could have got away with a small), the limited choice of colours (any colour as long as it is white), and the price (I think £33 is a little on the pricey side). 20 February 2010

Brilliant combination For such a small size, it holds a huge amount of useful items, from mobile phone, cash, to puncture repair kit, tyre levers, a combination spanner/Allen key set and a waterproof cover for my helmet! The flashing LED light gives a feeling of security when riding in twilight or in the dark. Overall one of the most useful products on the market, hence the five star review. 11 November 2009

Saddle pack of the gods Most saddle packs are just that. Packs that live beneath your saddle. How unoriginal and boring! Not this one. The Ortlieb Mud Racer is a saddle pack, oh yes, but it is also...[insert drumroll here]...a light!!! I can't believe people function without it - when I leave in the mornings, instead of picking up a saddle pack AND a light, I only need my saddle pack! Seriously, it has changed my life. It's easily big enough for keys, phone, spare inner tube, tyre leavers and other bits and bobs, plus it's a light! How cool. Only downside is that it's a little on the pricey side. But did I mention - it's a light! I can't wait for the new edition coming out next year, I have mine on pre-order already - it's a saddle pack, and light, and also a toaster. These Ortlieb guys are geniuses. 22 October 2009

Is the mounting bracket the same as the Ortlieb Large Saddle Bag?

Do Ortlieb use the same mounting bracket across their range? (so that you can use a small bag for a race and a large one for a day trip).

All Ortlieb saddle bags use the same mounting bracket so you should be fine changing between the two bags.

Problem with bracket fitting

I have a charge spoon on a seatpost with a slight setback which means the standard bracket does not have enough room to attach to the rails and allow the bag to slot on to the bracket and clip into place. Are there alternative brackets available?
