Carbohydrate gels do a great job - whether it's as a pre-race carb-boost or a life-saving anti-bonk hit near the end of a long session.Carb Boom comes in 41g sachets containing 27g of carbohydrate, originating from complex glucose polymers (24g) and simple sugars (3g). They use fruit for flavouring and boy, oh boy do they taste good - real good!There are bannana-peach, apple cinammon and strawberry -kiwi flavours, as well as a vanilla-orange one that provides a lift thanks to kola nut and caffeine. All were superb. It;s recommended that each is consumed with 250ml of water for every 30-45mins of exercise. This is about right, though up to 350ml might be needed by some athletes who like more water to swill their gels down with. Each gel has 50mg sodium and other electrolytes, aiding fluid absorption. They're easy to use, taste great and are competitively priced. The only negative point we can find is that the ingredient/nutritional information label is easily rubbed off.
