Despite its light weight and technical look, this unisex mountain bike shoe turned out to be surprisingly comfortable. The synthetic upper is harsher than some of the leather trail shoes I've worn recently, but it did become softer after a few hard riding days. Mesh panels mean they're more suited to summer than winter riding. They're breathable but also let in water instantly and on cold days the bitter air whistled straight through to my toes. This is nothing that couldn't be fixed with a good pair of waterproof socks, though. I liked the triple Velcro straps – easy to adjust on the fly, and worked well for maximum control. And although the rubber outer sole is pretty grippy on most terrain, the actual sole unit is completely rigid and there's not much of a heel, which improves pedalling but it's not great for walking. The best news is they come in a massive range of sizes.
High performance, summer shoe.
