With 100 to 130mm travel models or 29er specific 80 through to 100 mm travel versions available you can custom build an XMC equipped bike to your exact needs. In addition to its unique Launch Control system with full threshold adjustment the XMC also gives you the full range of external controls including rebound and compression so set-up is a cinch as well.
The XM Suspension with it's lower weight and increased stiffness are the traits that make the XM components so versatile. Long climbs are easily conquered with the fork locked and lowered and the chock locked, while all the plush travel makes the decent a joyride.

XM components are designed to address a rider's various mountain biking desires. Whether it's riding across the alps, around the world, or in a bike marathon: a cross mountain rider sees product versatility and reliability as important to components as their weight and comfort.

Quick Release - This is the typical wheelmounting system that was developed in 1922 by Tullio Campagnolo for road bicycles and has been the standard since then for road and mountain bikes.

DT Swiss thru bolt - The DT Swiss through bolt system is 100% compatible with the quick release standard. Instead of a thin 5mm shaft, the DT Swiss through bolt is an alloy bolt with a diameter of 9mm on the front hub and 10mm in the rear. For mountain bikes with disc brakes, a through connection is a substantially stronger and therefore safer connection.

Launch Control - This function ensures that the fork compresses but does not extend. By pressing down the launch control button, the rebound circuit is closed which allows the front of the bike to be lowered to the desired level for climbing. If the adjustable release threshold is exceeded via impact, the launch control will be deactivated and the fork returns to its initial setting immediately

About Forks - MTB

Mountain bike forks often contain a set of shocks, in which case the fork blades typically consist of upper and lower telescoping tubes, which are called 'legs.' The suspension travel and handling characteristics vary depending on the type of riding the fork is designed for. For instance, manufacturers produce different forks for cross-country (XC), downhill, and freeride riding. Forks designed for XC racing are typically lighter and have less suspension travel than those designed for rougher terrain and more extreme conditions. Suspension fork design has advanced over the years with suspension forks becoming increasingly sophisticated and diverse in design. When suspension forks were introduced, 80-100mm of travel was deemed sufficient for a downhill mountain bike. Typically this amount of travel is now used in XC disciplines, with downhill forks now offering 150 to 200mm of travel for handling extreme terrain. Fork travel is also dependant on your frame, to optimise the handling of your bike it is best to stick to within the manufacturers guidelines, if you choose to use a fork with too much or too little travel you could upset the handling of your bike so the steering feels 'twitchy' or 'unresponsive'.

Review from What MTB

The on-trail result is an impressively direct and driveable fork that you can rip into turns much harder than the bike naturally
wants to go, and you can rely on it to hold the ugly 'against the grain' lines
in rooty/rocky technical sections. The low weight also gives your front end a genuine 'lift'
in terms of easy 'pick up and place' agility.

Suspension feel is equally crisp, controlled and race tuned. The initial stroke is firmer than most but mid stroke control
and big-drop catch is impeccable. End-stroke ramp up means no nasty shocks even when you push the marker ring right to full travel, and while it occasionally
felt slow coming back from the depths, overall control is excellent.

In conclusion...

Review from Bikeradar

DT Swiss' 32mm tanchion, lightweiight trail fork, the XMC100 exudes the same class and confident attitude that has made the new RockShox SID such an immediate hit.

Carving through singletrack, the DT Swiss fork invited you to 'ride' the front tyre more than usual, which just made the twisty bits feel even more dynamic.

The XMC can be asked to do too much – as can any 100mm travel fork – but you have to go a lot further to find that limit than ever before.

The 100mm XMC weighs 1510g, while the new SID Team with the same travel is 1475g.

The Swiss are coming!
When DT Swiss bought Pace's fork business, expectations were high that any quality control gremlins would be chased away.

The bulk of the DT Swiss-labelled XMC100 chassis is essentially the same as when it left the Pace drawing board, with a carbon fibre lower leg assembly.

DT left the Pace signature hollow carbon rear arch, cast magnesium drop-outs and forged alloy crown alone.

The legs, however, are now properly sealed and don't 'sweat' suspension ?uid, like some old Paces had a habit of doing.

Bearings are smooth and the seals, while effective, are not strangling the slippery stanchions. Consequently, stiction is low, with the fork leaping into action with ease.

The fork never feels uncontrolled, though, or as if it's moving without due cause.

The Launch Control feature (which is another Pace carryover) allows you to set the height of the fork for long climbs. It's easy to use, but not ultimately that useful on a fork with just 100m of travel. If we were DT, we'd ditch it on the 100mm XMC, and keep it on the longer 130mm model.

In conclusion...

It's light, tight and comes ready to fight right out of the box
