About Hybrid / City Bikes

Hybrid bikes are bicycles designed for general-purpose utility or commuter cycling on paved and unpaved roads, paths, and trails. Also known under such names as City bike or Commuter bike, the hybrid takes design features from both a road and mountain bike, with the goal of making a robust bike for general commuting and transportation. In general, hybrids use the mountain bike's triple chainset together with the mtb bars giving a more upright position than found on a road bike, making them great for city and leisure use. They also use a 700C wheel diameter for higher speeds, but use a wider rim and tyre for increased strength when used on canal paths or for light trail use, other items used from mtb's are the brakes, with disc or v-brake being chosen.

superb bike

Pros: Attractive, Comfortable, Durable, High Quality

Cons: Expensive

"with the discounted price, I cannot fault this bike. It is solid, quality is top class, and the gearing is good. I cycle on a hilly route, and this bike copes with all the up's and downs easilly. As mentioned the gear ratios are spot on. I have cycled 25-30 miles in one go, and it was easy !. I am not sure about the lights, the rear one is ok, but you might find the front light not sufficient, and may need to add a brighter alternative."

Cons: Limited Color Choices, quality less than expected.

"Good bike. Have done about 2000miles on it.
Needed a trip to local bike shop for a PDI as some niggles when delivered.
Changed saddle to a Brookes as the original was not good.
Wiring for lights is not satisfactory, not robust or well protected, although the lights them selves are OK.
Now bike has all the bells and whistles for day and longer touring.
Focus quality is 98% there."

Great all-rounder

"I bought this bike in Spring, and have just returned from a two-week tour in Germany. The bike is excellent in every respect - comfortable, confidence-inspiring and capable on roads, gravel paths and the occasional forest track. Set up with Altura panniers and bar bag it made a great tourer, and it's already proved its worth, on a daily basis, around our hilly area of East Sussex. It's proved to be a great buy!"
