Top Features of the FSA Omega MegaExo Compact Chainset

The FSA Omega MegaExo Compact Chainset utilises the same external bearing technology as their top of the range chainsets and offers exceptional value.

Ideal for hilly road, or cyclocross use with a 50/34 chainring combination and low 1060g weight (incl BB). The chainset retains a narrow 147mm Q-factor for optimum power transfer and a 43.5mm chainline for smooth gear shifting. The use of precision CNC machined AL7075/T6 chainrings which are ramped and pinned provides precise shifting when using Sram, Shimano or Campagnolo gear systems.
The Omega MegaExo chainset is available in 170, 172.5 or 175mm crank lengths and comes complete with an English threaded bottom bracket.

About Chainsets - Road

Road chainsets comprise of one, two or three chainrings and two crank arms, one on each side mounted at 180° to each other, they are connected to the bottom bracket axle and to the pedals. Bicycle cranks can vary in length to accommodate different sized riders. Major manufacturers typically offer crank lengths for adult riders from 165 mm to 180 mm long in 2.5 mm increments. It would seem evident that riders with shorter legs should use proportionally shorter cranks, while those with longer legs should use proportionally longer cranks. However, the exact length an individual cyclist feels most comfortable with may differ depending on the type of cycling they take part in. Bicycle riders typically prefer shorter cranks for fast cadence cycling such as criterium and track racing, while some riders typically prefer longer cranks for lower cadence cycling such as time trialling and mountain biking, where leverage is a priority.

About the FSA brand

The driving force of bicycle component maker Full Speed Ahead is well captured in their name. FSA stays ahead of the competition through design innovation and manufacturing expertise. FSA's manufacturing base is in Taiwan, but they are truly a global company, with offices in the USA & Italy that collaborate to direct FSA's component development. FSA offers solutions for speed across a broad range of bicycle components; from headsets to wheels; cranksets and bottom brackets, Vision Time Trial & Triathlon bars and handlebars & stems. Why FSA win: Using ceramic, stainless steel, titanium and a half dozen grades of aluminium and numerous composite materials including molded, tubular and high-compression plate carbon fibre gives them the ability to apply the perfect material to each specific application.
