Top Features of the Mizuno Wave Alchemy 9 Shoes SS10

  • Mizuno use a supportive wave that starts low on the lateral (outside) of the trainer which gradually fans out and raises in height towards the medial (inside) side. The lateral side of the wave provides shock absorption at heel strike working with the VS1 to dissipate shock. As the foot rolls in it comes into contact with progressively more support keeping the foot in a neutral position. Mizuno wave is the only running technology that combines support and cushioning. Mizuno use Wave technology to absorb shock and guide foot through gait cycle. The wave compresses between the midsole units providing fantastic shock absorption at heel strike.
The Mizuno Wave Alchemy offers great stability whilst remaining responsive and dynamic. Ideal for the consumer that need more support than Nirvana/Inspire but wants to retain an athletic fit and feel.

Mizuno research into Biomechanical differences in gender has resulted in the Wave Alchemy 9 being perfectly set up for a males running Gait. The Outsole features a gender specific landing zone with extra flex grooves to help slow down over pronation. The forefoot remains flexible to proved a complete comfortable ride. VS1 insert at heel strike absorbs shock working with the supportive Mizuno Wave providing shock absorption on lateral side and stability on medial side. Dynamotion Fit ensures heel fit is secure and comfortable. Features removable ortholite sockliner designed to compliment the cushioning in the trainer whilst remaining lightweight.

Mizuno
Shoe Technology
Revolutionary Infinity Wave provides the ultimate in cushioning, rebound and durability by reducing the shoes reliance on midsole foam
The Tech: Developed in Mizuno's Sozo Studio SmoothRide Engineering is designed to minimise the rapid acceleration and deceleration of the foot through the phases of the running cycle by reducing shock and increasing flexibility. This allows Mizuno to create running footwear that provides an extremely comfortable running experience through an even smoother ride. Cushioning at heel strike, the angle of the medial wave and midsole materials combine to achieve Mizuno Smoothride.

What it does: Mizuno design philosophy. Links Mizuno technical components from heel strike to toe off to achieve maximum comfort, feel and performance.

The Tech: AP (Acceleration Polymer) is a lightweight high rebound midsole material to give greater momentum at toe-off. (Acceleration Polymer Responsive Midsole) Lightweight high rebound midsole material to give greater momentum at take-off.

What it Does: A shock absorbing midsole material which provides energy return at toe off.

The Tech: VS-1 provides outstanding shock attenuation and is specifically located to compliment each shoe/running style and provide deformation to the midsole for correct and natural foot alignment through the gait cycle.

What it Does: Provides impact protection complimenting the shock absorption of the Mizuno wave plate.

Full-length midsole ventilation system reduces heat and humidity build-up inside the shoe
Provides the utmost in breathability and comfort of the upper
The Tech: X10 is made from Carbon Rubber. Located at the heel on the outsole.

What it Does: X10 is made of carbon rubber and protects high wear areas, and provides more traction at heel strike

The Tech: Developed by the revolutionary Sozo Studio. Extensive high speed video analysis showed how shoes distort in the collar and heel counter during the gait cycle resulting in loss of fit and causing heel slippage. The DynaMotion Fit system allows the upper of the shoe to interact with the movement of the foot. This relieves the stress on the upper which causes the distortion and results in fit being maintained throughout the full range of the movement.

What it does: More comfortable better fitting trainers. Ensures superb heel fit
Gender Engineering Based on Biomechanical research into the differences between mens and womens gait. Mizuno constructs the Midsole/Outsole of each gender differently to improve the ride, performance and comfort.

Wave plate constructed from Pebax Rnew, which is made from plant based oil which is sustainable and produces less carbon while retaining all performance characteristics
Removable ortholite insock for premium comfort, cushioning and durability

About Shoes - Run Motion

To determine the correct type of running shoe for your feet, use the tried and tested "wet foot test". Dip your foot into water and then stand on a surface that will show your footprint - a towel or piece of paper or cardboard. The shape of your wet footprint indicates the amount of stability you might need in your shoe. If your footprint looks like the one on the right (with a low arch leaving a print that looks like the whole sole of the foot) then you should choose shoes from the motion control category on this page. You should choose these if you're an "overpronator" who needs control features and places a premium on durability or you wear orthoses (sculpted shoe inserts) and want a firm midsole and deep heel counter or you're a heavy runner who needs extra durability and control.
