Designed for 4-6" travel bikes, the Atlas AM crank is engineered for riders that want a crank they can ride virtually anywhere.
Sharing many design & style features from our original Deus crank, the ATLAS crank is designed specifically for All Mountain riding. If you want a crank that's light enough for XC climbs but strong enough for light freeride use, the Atlas crank is the perfect choice.
Your chainset must fit onto your bottom bracket! There are currently four chainset/bottom bracket interfaces that you're likely to come across. If your bottom bracket is made by Shimano and it has splines, then you need an Octalink chainset. If your b/b is NOT made by Shimano and it has splines, it's almost certainly ISIS. There are a very few non-Shimano chainsets with Shimano Octalink interfaces so, to be sure, count the splines - ISIS has 9, Octalink has (surprise, surprise) 8. No matter which brand of b/b you have, if it has a square interface, it will require a traditional square taper chainset. If you have one of the new Hollowtech II systems, you will need to choose the exact chainset that matches your bottom bracket. Most MTB chainsets are now 9-speed compatible but these will work with an 8-speed system.

It shows you how hardcore general Canadian riding is when Race Face's all-mountain crank is tougher than most downhill sets.
Structurally there's a lot of similarity with the Deus (and its Turbine grand-daddy) with a beefy I-Beam arm profile machined in Canada from a bespoke OPTIM-AL.
It certainly feels rock solid underfoot and our three-year-old long-term test set is still going strong after spending all 2008 in Whistler.
The thicker-walled fixed axle seems to preserve the bottom bracket bearings slightly better, although they're still not great.
Installation requires some muscle and pedal threads need greasing regularly, but once they're on these are proper fit-and-forget cranks for big or aggressive trail riders.
They're not cheap, but seriously tough and well proven cranks for aggressive trail riders, especially if your riding includes regular drops, berms and downhill runs. Also check out the limited edition Race Face Atlas FR, which is an even beefier beast for extra insurance.
