The new D2 stem combines its bomber mountain bike heritage with some new BMX attitude, resulting in a product worthy of belonging to the Diabolus line-up.

The D2 is the freeride version of the Diabolus downhill stem and, as with the sport, the stem shows a definite BMX influence.
Available in 35, 50 or 70mm versions, all CNC-machined from a solid chunk of 6061 aluminium, the stem cradles the bars, with a top clamp rather than the usual front-loading affair.
This helps avoid any stress risers in the bar, usually caused by the gap between the stem and front clamp. The unit is also incredibly strong, backed up by Race Face's lifetime warranty, which should please you if you've just dropped £85 on a stem.

The original Diablous stem is something of a strength legend and the new D2 looks set to inherit the legacy. An interlocking back-sloped top-plate extends down into the lower U for a totally closed low-stress bar connection and solid steering. The low stack height(35mm) back end gets big square ridges and twin opposing bolts for totoal lockdown, but it's much lighter than the original.
