Race Face sets another industry benchmark with the introduction of SIXC - the world's lightest and strongest carbon AM chainset with 24/36 rings and a bashguard.
Building on the unprecedented success of their proprietary Optimized Carbon Technology program, SIXC is poised to rewrite the rules in the 5-6 inch travel bike world.
SIXC represents the culmination of years of Race Face engineering in both carbon and all mountain products. Race Face has created a chainset for the all mountain rider who demands the ultimate in performance. Strong enough for light freeriding yet feathery enough to propel you past the lycra set, SIXC is the product many epic riders have been waiting for.
This crankset is completely hollow with all unnecessary material being removed from the centre core. The composite arms have no internal aluminium spine. 3mm of chainline adjustability ensures the ability to achieve perfect drivetrain alignment even with difficult suspension frame designs and ideal for fine-tuning shifting chainguide set-ups.
Race Face chainrings are 100% CNC machined from super-hard 7075 aluminium to maximize wear resistance & impact strength. Proven assembly friendly "EXI" spline interface ensures fast, simple installation and easy dealer serviceability using standard shop tools.
SIXC features a specifically engineered, superlight, CNC machined CrMo BB spindle that is permanently moulded directly into the drive side crank arm to minimize weight and maximize power transfer. All alloy T-30 Torx hardware keeps weight down and coolness high and the crank bolt puller cap makes crank removal a snap with just an 8mm hex wrench.
Bearings feature the new custom triple wiper seal to better retain grease & keep contaminants out. Bearings are factory filled with Phil Wood waterproof grease — tested & proven to extend bearing life.
Your chainset must fit onto your bottom bracket! There are currently four chainset/bottom bracket interfaces that you're likely to come across. If your bottom bracket is made by Shimano and it has splines, then you need an Octalink chainset. If your b/b is NOT made by Shimano and it has splines, it's almost certainly ISIS. There are a very few non-Shimano chainsets with Shimano Octalink interfaces so, to be sure, count the splines - ISIS has 9, Octalink has (surprise, surprise) 8. No matter which brand of b/b you have, if it has a square interface, it will require a traditional square taper chainset. If you have one of the new Hollowtech II systems, you will need to choose the exact chainset that matches your bottom bracket. Most MTB chainsets are now 9-speed compatible but these will work with an 8-speed system.
