The Action Sports Bra from Sportjock gives full support without compromising comfort, despite offering more choice for colour than for sizing.Based on a compression design, the Power Band support system does a good job giving firm support with no movement, even when mountain biking. A Coolmax lining helps with moisture transfer, and while this functioned well enough, the outer layer took a while to dry after the ride.It only comes in two cup sizes, but these are designed to suit A, B and C cup sizes.Although the Action Sports Bra is not adjustable, the two cup options mean that finding the right fit is unlikely to be an issue, and the extensive colour choice means you can get one to match every outfit!
Best for racing
This sturdy compression bra features a 'Powerband' which sits underneath the bust.
Initially it felt quite tight but once on, it was comfortable and didn't chafe. The bra is a good fit and offers perfect bounce control. The double-layer fabric wicked sweat away well, even while the tester was wearing a backpack.
Like most crop tops, it's very comfortable. However, unlike some, it's easy to pull on and off, is rigid enough to hold the bust still pver a run, wicks well, thanks to its Coolmax lining, and dries quickly.
There seems to be an asumption among some manufacturers that, for a small-busted runner, any sports bra will do, but the Action Sports is a good example of how to get it right.
Available in pretty much every colour under the sun, this design looks great on its own, provides a nice shape under a jersey and we can't fault its performance for cycling. The fabric offers a compression effect, giving support while wicking well and maintaining comfort. The Sportjock offers very good coverage, stays in place throughout the time in the saddle, retains shape and performance wash after wash and fits cup sizes up to an F. Well worth the investment.
We were really impresses across the board with all the bras we tested and were particularly excited about the Sportjock Super Sports Bra because despite its very simplistic look, we couldn't have been more comfortable when we were out cycling.
" ... the surprise hit of the test"" I only wish I'd found them years ago"I would have never bought this bra but it proved to be the surprise hit of the test. Being a 36E I've always thought crop-top racer back designs were for skinny gym bunnies. The Sportjock was a revelation. Super soft and comfortable it's great for everything from Pilates and walking to netball and running. My friend who road-tested the Triumph says she bought a Sportjock for climbing thinking it wouldn't offer enough support for running but now its her favourite all round bra. The added bonus is that it doesn't look like a bra so if you're slim enough it would be a lovely gym or running top.
Best For: The perfect all round bra for every activity.
Shock Absorber offers one of the widest choice of sports bras in the current market, and if you are a D cup or bigger then this bra should be on your shortlist. The D+ Max is based on the classic encapsulation design, yet still has a crop-top outer styling. It proved extremely comfortable and stable, helped by the double back fastening system and adjustable padded shoulder straps. When it came to wicking, the Coolmax fabric did an excellent job and the outer layer did not tend to wet out as much as some other brands. With its good looks, comfortable padding and adjustability, the D+ Max is a perfect choice for the bigger busted rider.
An excellent choice for bigger busted riders, with lots of support.
