Reynolds RZR 92 Carbon Tubular Front Wheel
The Reynolds RZR 92 is the first non-disc wheel designed and built for the precise demands of time trialing and triathlon. It’s stiff, responsive and aerodynamic, with astonishingly low mass.

The ultra deep profile was developed using proprietary computational fluid dynamics–the same techniques used to design, optimise, and validate airflow for US Navy unmanned drones and guided missiles.
The 92mm rim depth terminates in a razor sharp trailing edge that creates the smoothest possible conformal shape for re-attachment of separated and turbulent air. Reynolds also further enhanced the unique trailing edge contour by attaching 12 N.A.C.A. 0033 airfoil, full carbon-composite spokes virtually zero drag. The spokes terminate in a full carbon Torque Flange hub with a double carbon wall for extreme lateral stiffness, and full carbon axle.
The innovative tyre mounting and brake-track region of the rim of the RZR 92 is another Reynolds exclusive. They've made the tyre bed 70% larger and 30% deeper than the traditional tubular profile, for nearly seamless tyre-to-rim airflow continuity.
The RZR 92 aerodynamic section accommodates tyres from 19mm to 22mm with no increase in drag as tyre diameter increases. Typically a narrower tyre will result in a lower drag value, due to the fact that a narrower tyre moves the thickest portion of the aerodynamic shape rearward, reducing separation. With the increasing popularity of wider tyres in TT and Triathlon, the RZR 92 is designed to accommodate wide tyres without sacrificing performance.
In addition, they have added a channel that runs around the rim on the centerline of the tyre mounting surface to create additional clearance for the stitching and cloth tape covering. This feature promotes optimal contact between the round tubular tyre and the rim to ensure the tyre stitching and tape covering will not “waddle” from bottoming out on the rim.
This optimal contour reduces rolling resistance variability caused by tyre gluing. Unlike ovoid designs, the RZR 92 does not compromise braking performance or frame fit. The sidewalls of the RZR 92 are parallel for predictable, strong braking, but the sidewall placement and termination is unique.
About the Reynolds brand
In the world of cycling, Reynolds stands as one of a handful of iconic brands. The legendary connection between Reynolds and cycling began in 1897 in Birmingham, England with the introduction of the company’s first lugged, steel tube sets. Reynolds has distinguished itself as a brand at the cutting edge of cycling technology ever since. From the prestigious 531/753/853 badges on lugged steel frames, to the revolutionary RZR line of Ultralight wheels, Reynolds’ historic contribution to precision, craftsmanship, and innovation in cycling takes a back seat to no one. Reynolds Cycling in Salt Lake City is a branch in the Reynolds family tree that has developed into one of the world’s pre-eminent carbon wheel manufacturers, and carries on the tradition of excellence in the global cycling industry. Reynolds has supplied carbon tubing for some of the finest bicycle brands; their components, forks and wheels can be found under many professional riders. In 2008 Reynolds joined forces with legendary carbon fibre engineer Paul Lew. Paul’s ideas and innovation have helped transform the way Reynolds manufactures carbon wheels, from layup to moulds. Today, the sole focus of Reynolds Cycling is to produce the best carbon wheels available. When you ride a Reynolds wheel you’re experiencing the heritage and pedigree so many champions have trusted to carry them to victory. For more than a century, the name Reynolds has stood for quality, design and performance in bicycle components because we’re renowned for creating products that deliver a cycling experience unlike any other.
