The Noah FAST incorporates all 3 of Ridley's FAST-Concept technologies (F-Brake, F-Splitfork and F-Surface). These combined technologies offer up to 2.8km/h advantage in the sprint, and up to 20 watts less power input needed to average a 40km/h breakaway. The Noah FAST is the ultimate frame in the World Tour peloton, no compromise, just pure speed.
F-Brake: There is off course no doubt about the necessity of a brake on a bike! But this brake, like other bike components, creates turbulence and causes drag, restraining the speed a bike can obtain. That's why it has been one of the main goals of bike manufacturers to integrate the brakes as much as possible. Until now, many efforts have been made, yet no one was able to truly integrate the brake into frame and fork. Following years of in-depth testing, Ridley therefore started developing their own brakes and integrated these into the frame and fork itself.
The result: the first real integrated brake. This innovative setup results in less drag and cleaner lines: a faster, sleeker and better solution.
F-Splitfork: Most turbulence created by the bike is caused by the wheels (and spokes). At the top of the wheels the spokes are moving forward while colliding with the frontal wind. This causes a major turbulence, creating drag and slowing down the bike. With Ridley's splitfork they have guided the incoming frontal air away from the spokes and created an airstream away from the wheels. In this way, they have reduce the interaction of the airstream with the spokes which results in reduced turbulence and drag.
F-Surface: The frontal wind has to "pass around" the tubes of the bike, and has to change its direction to follow the profile of the bike. To make it easier for the airstream to follow the profile of the bike and stay close to the bike, the tubes are designed in a droplet shape.
However, even then it's not possible to keep the airstream in touch with the frame at every location. At various locations, the airstream comes away from the frame, creating a wake which increases the drag. Therefore Ridley did extensive wind tunnel testing and used oil mapping technology to locate the places where the wind comes away from the frame. To avoid this, Ridley applied a structure surface on various defined locations in order keep to the wind close to the frame. This has helped to reduce drag optimising the speed a bike can obtain.
The Noah FAST, manufactured from 50/40/30 ton carbon fibre, also comes fitted with SRAM's Red 10 speed groupset and provides excellent shifting (quick and precise) and superb performance. Also, fitted to the Noah FAST is SRAM's a Red compact chainset and coupled with their rear cassette (11-26) this will give you a broad range of gears suited for hill work as-well-as speed work.
Fulcrum Red Wind wheels are also supplied with the Noah FAST and will provide you with a quick and precise ride that can transform the feel of a bike. Fulcrum have built up a good reputation for wheels that are both dependable and offer good levels of performance.
The wheels feature an aluminium braking surface, so can be used in all weathers, a 50mm carbon deep section rim, and laced up with aero steel spokes. In total a very good set of wheels that will provide you with endless hours of troublefree use and coupled with the Continental Grand Prix tyres, excellent grip.
Finally, the finishing kit (saddle, handlebars, and stem) are all 4ZA components (Cirrus Pro), which are all built inhouse by Ridley. This helps to keep the price down, but still provides you with good quality components.
