Strong, good value, looks good
This is one of the nicer looking adjustable stems. It represents pretty good value. It looks smart and the design means that you'd never ever get movement once it's set.
It's not light, but show me an adjustable stem that is.
The four bolt clamp is a great improvement over some of the competitors.

This really made the difference
This high quality product has made riding my bike a very much more comfortable experience. I can now concentrate on the ride and my performance instead of having to alter my hand position for what seemed almost continuously through the ride.
Only been in use for a month but no signs of wear and have not had to adjust it.

great quality
purchased this stem to improve my riding position and it didnt let me down, the length was nice and the number of height adjustments made it ideal to experiment with. The only drawback seems to be that it has to be completely undone to adjust the height which can be a bit of a pain when out trying it out.

I want to replace an orbea stem but the length is 150mm and there is no 150mm option here.

Exactly why I bought one, to figure out the best bar height. One of these, combined with moving your aheadset spacers around should give you the perfect height. But remember it pivots so the higher it goes the closer it puts the bars to the stem effectively shortening the stem length. I have no problem with that.Once I've got it set up 'just so' I may leave it in situ or find a sold stem that matches the new setting

My existing Bontrager SSR stem is 95mm long with a 10 degree rise. Should I opt for the 80mm or the 100mm Ritchey adjustable. I'm looking to eliminate neck pain I get on longer rides 50 miles plus.

No definite answer. If you add height using the stem then you lose reach, the effective stem length shortens as you pivot the bars upwards. So my guts say get one longer than you have now so when you tilt it up you keep a decent reach. I went from a 120mm 10 degree stem to a 120mm one of these at 45 degree up elevation, but I dropped it down the steerer by putting some of the spacers above it.
I have a boarman hybrid and find the current stem too low to reach. What size should i buy of a ritchey?

Difficult to say as its a personal thing. What I would suggest is to avoid any adjustable ones. I bought the Ritchey one and found it 'creaked' when riding. A common problem I found on further investigation. Some of the bolts worked loose very quickly even though they were tightened correctly. I returned it to Wiggle and bought a short length BBB 35 degree stem which made a definite difference. Don't get a very short one as it makes the steering twitchy.Country : United Kingdom

This will depend on the bar size fitted to your Boardman hybrid. We would need to know the model to determine this for you. However if you are able to measure the diameter of the bars where the stem clamps you can work out the stem required. If the bars measure 31.8mm (32mm) you'll need the Oversize 31.8mm version listed. If the bars are 25.8 (26mm) then you'd need the road version here; http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ritchey-adjustable-road-stem/

Yes it does have an oversized stem. Without knowing any of your measurements it is impossible to advise which would be the best length for you.
What is the height of the steerer clamp? my Bontrager SSR stem is 45mm. Is this a standard size for all oversized stems? or will I need to add a spacer to the headset to ensure alighnment between the top of the headset and the top of the steerer clamp.

This stem has a 40mm stack height so if you have a 45mm stack now you could use a 5mm spacer on top to prevent the need to cut your steerer down by 5mm.2 years, 9 months ago
Hi - would this be a direct replacement on a (small size) Verenti Millook? I have a 100mm Me stem on there which came with the bike, but have severe upper neck/upper back pain after about 30 miles - hence need to play with an adjustable stem to see if it helps.
