Ritchey has switched from a split faceplate to a one-piece because it's running a new 4Axis bolt pattern. This configuration reduces peak loading on thin-walled handlebars and also eliminates bolt redundancy, so in theory, if one of the bolts failed, the other would be enough to hold the bar in place. The main body is net forged from 2014 alloy and features a bias cut slot and opposing bolts, which also reduces peak loading on carbon steerers and the like.
In conclusion...
The extension tube is a similar size to the Easton EA70 and the WCS is similar in stiffness, however, at 111g it's the lightest stem on test...Top marks says it all.
