Its new damper rides high in the travel where it’s the plushest. Its industry redefining asymmetric approach to chassis design delivers an unparalleled stiffness to travel to weight ratio that will have other engineers playing catch up for years.
No compromise for lockout: The efficiency circuits (Pedal and Lock) sit behind the performance damping, meaning no sacrifice in bump performance for shredding downhill while keeping the ability to maintain pedaling stability for those leg burning climbs.

Extruded bladder design is insanely durable, resists damping change during extended downhills and has virtually zero pressure offset for small bump sensitivity.
RCT3 – Designed for riders looking for more bump gobbling performance. The new
RCT3 damper features three distinct knob positions – Open, Threshold and Lock. The rider is able to quickly and easily access these three modes to manipulate damping performance for specific terrain:

In addition to its three distinct modes, RCT3 features an independent adjustment of low speed compression.
Solo Air is like a Buddhist monk. Its enlightened design lets you add air to your forks through a single Schrader valve, filling both the positive and negative air spring chambers simultaneously. So they’re always in perfect equilibrium, like Yin and Yang. Giving you a plush, predictable ride you can set up in seconds, with the lightest weight air spring on the market.
Who doesn't want more available wheel travel for successive hits? The Rapid Recovery System allows the shock to recovery faster between consecutive bumps, letting the wheel track the ground with greater precision. This more active suspension system, doesn’t pack up and enables the bike to ride in a higher and softer part of the spring rate. Rapid Recovery gives the rider access to more available wheel travel, bump after bump, to achieve a smoother and more controlled ride.
When you need your forearms to be stronger for more control, you bulk them up in the gym. When you need more durability from your fork, bulk them up with our Power Bulge. Other companies just increase the stanchion size adding extra weight. Power Bulge simply reinforces the lower leg to allow for an oversized bushing, increasing stiffness and maximizing your ride.

Who obsesses over the weight of their wheel axles? It’s ridiculous, right? It’s just a rod of metal bolting the wheels to your bike. But then again, Maxle Lite is a nifty thru axle system that makes your bike both lighter and stiffer. And less weight makes it easier to get your bike to do what you want. Especially when you don’t need to bring tools to remove it, front or rear. And that extra stiffness gives you the precision to hit your lines no matter how burly. So maybe that obsession isn’t so ridiculous after all.
About the RockShox brand
RockShox was one of the first producers of bicycle suspension forks and have now become the world leader in the design and manufacturing of high performance suspension products for the bicycle industry. In 1989 RockShox Inc. was founded by Paul Turner and Steve Simons. Rock Shox launched with 10 front suspension forks and three rear shocks, with the brand names such as Boxxer, Deluxe, Indy, Jett, Judy, Mag, Quadra, Ruby and SID. RockShox’s founder Paul Turner, raced motorcycles in his teen years during the 1970s and went on to found an aftermarket engine parts company in 1977 at the age of 18. Turner then went to work for Honda Motor Company, as their factory motocross team mechanic, an opportunity which provided Turner with experience working with the top racers in the field, as well as suspension designers and other motocross industry leaders. In Febuary 2002, RockShox was acquired by industry leader SRAM who hope to take the brand onto another level.

The RockShox Pike was a firm favourite with aggressive riders when it debuted back in 2005, and has been relaunched and totally overhauled for 2014. Thanks to its supple, supportive action it's already creeping to the top of everyone's suspension fork wishlist.
Just like the harder hitting Lyrik, the Pike gets stiff 35mm stanchions to help with steering precision, yet RockShox has still managed to deliver when it comes to weight. Our 160mm (6.3in) travel, 26in wheel, Solo Air sample weighed in at 1,800g.
Damping is taken care of by the new Charger cartridge ?" a fully sealed design that uses an extruded bladder to avoid air mixing with the oil. This should, in theory, deliver more consistent damping ?" and it seems to work too.
Hammer through chattery, rough, rock riddled sections and you'll be surprised by just how much the Pike can deal with, and the amount of composure and support it does it with.
On quick, successive hits the Pike tracks the terrain well ?" partly thanks to the Rapid Recovery rebound circuit ?" recovering impressively even after big, fast compressions and only using the necessary amount of travel.
This makes navigating awkward, high speed boulder fields a more confident affair. Although the Pike doesn't feel quite as stiff as Fox's 36 chassis, you don't lose any of that wheel-positioning accuracy, and at no point did we ever feel like we were out of our depth, even on downhill trails.
On smaller, rumbling hits and loose surfaces, the beginning stroke is impressively smooth and supple, helping to claw out any available traction and alleviate much of that annoying vibration through the hands that can affect control on longer descents.
The RCT3 model offers plenty of adjustment too. Along with a rebound knob, there's a large dial that lets you toggle between the open, pedal and lockout modes. In the open setting (which works on a separate damping circuit) you can use a smaller dial to tune the amount of low-speed compression damping. On top of all that, RockShox include their 'Bottomless Tokens' ?" plastic spacers that reduce the air volume to create a more progressive spring rate.
