Robert Capa, one of the greatest war photographers of all time, covered the 1939 Tour de France for Match magazine. In Issue 31, Rouleur publish many previously unseen images from the final edition of the Grand Boucle before the outbreak of war in Europe. They are breathtakingly beautiful.
They also speak to the men behind Bradley Wiggins and his attempt to become the first British Tour winner in history, visit Chris King in Portland and discover possibly the coolest city in the US, lunch with Italian framebuilder Irio Tommasini and discuss quality olive oil (and bicycles…), uncover the tragic life and death of one of Spain's greatest champions, Luis Ocaña, and tour a model of Swiss efficiency - the BMC factory in Grenchen.
Herbie Sykes continues his amazing series talking to riders from behind the Iron Curtain in GDR. Photography in this 204-page issue is by Paolo Ciaberta, Taz Darling, Gerard Brown, Andy Waterman, Timm Kölln and Guy Andrews. Illustrations by Jo Burt and columnists are Matt Seaton, William Fotheringham and Paul Fournel.
