Top Features of the Campagnolo Record 11 Speed UT Double Chainset 2010
The 11-speed Ultra-Torque carbon chainset has been designed to be more rigid and shift more quickly and fluidly, even under stress.
- ESP (Enhanced Shifting Performance) Actuation System
- Ultra-Hollow structure
- Light alloy screws
- Long life anodisation treatment
- Ultra-Torque bottom bracket
- Road
The Record chainset exploits unidirectional and multidirectional carbon fibre structured according to Ultra-Hollow technology which envisages hollow cranks and spokes. The use of USB (Ultra Smooth Bearings) ensures very low friction and enhanced performance. Anti-corrosion treatment is used on the cups of the Ultra Torque system.
USB (Ultra Smooth Bearings)
Our ceramic USB - Ultra Smooth Bearings guarantee extremely high smoothness. Perfectly smooth surface and lower friction to reduce loss of power are the most interesting features. Add on the reduced weight and resistance to corrosion and you will understand why we can give you the best thanks to USB. All the power will be transferred onto the road.
USB - Ultra Smooth Bearings - technology is used for Record chainsets.
Ultra-Torque™
Lightness, rigidity, simplified assembly and maintenance: Ultra-Torque™.
This is Campagnolo®'s answer in the integrated crankset sector.
MORE ERGONOMIC
Campagnolo® found a way to permanently conjoin the semi-axles of the bottom bracket to the respective crankset arms. This redesign made it possible to considerably reduce the lateral dimensions at the axle level and prevent annoying contact with the ankles when turning the pedals.
EASIER
Assembly is simplistic: one single oversize bolt is enough to integrate the two semi-axles. With regard to torque transmission efficiency, this system is equally as effective as a single piece axle.
MORE RIGID
Furthermore, despite the narrow side profile, we have been able to position the bearings outside the bottom bracket shell, resulting in greater axle rigidity from the increased axle diameter. This breakthrough was obtained by using an ingenious mechanical system derived from many years' motoring experience in the rotation axle and engine shaft coupling sector: the Hirth joint.
In short , this is a joint with self-centring and self-aligning frontal teeth located in the middle of the bottom-bracket axle where the ends of the semi-axles, integrated with the crankset arms, come into contact.
About Chainsets
Your chainset must fit onto your bottom bracket! There are currently four chainset/bottom bracket interfaces that you're likely to come across. If your bottom bracket is made by Shimano and it has splines, then you need an Octalink chainset. If your b/b is NOT made by Shimano and it has splines, it's almost certainly ISIS. There are a very few non-Shimano chainsets with Shimano Octalink interfaces so, to be sure, count the splines - ISIS has 9, Octalink has (surprise, surprise) 8. No matter which brand of b/b you have, if it has a square interface, it will require a traditional square taper chainset. If you have one of the new Hollowtech II systems, you will need to choose the exact chainset that matches your bottom bracket. Most MTB chainsets are now 9-speed compatible but these will work with an 8-speed system.
