For the clear impactX photochromic lens, how dark does the tint go? Could you use these from early morning/dawn in to bright sunlight?
Similarly, for the red or golf photochromic lens, how dark ar these? Could these be used at dawn or would they be too dark?

Answer:
I have the clear lens model. Went out for a ride this morning (left in the dark) and the lenses were completely clear. Came back in the middle of a bright sunny morning (Australian definition of sunny - so pretty bright) and they're definitely dark enough. Not as dark as a dedicated pair of super-dark sunglasses potentially, but definitely dark enough to be comfortable.

Answer:
The clear photchromic lenses have a light transmission range of 20% to 78% and I use them from just after dawn to full sunlight. I use a transparent lense (92%) for pre-dawn riding and have a set of Laser Blue (8-20%) for bright Australian summer light, with the photochromic clear used for everything inbetween.

Answer:
The photo lenses can be used in the dark, no problem. I ride to work every morning in the pitch black and they are fine. Easy to see through. I forget i'm wearing them except when they have mud flicked up on them (the reason I wear them in the dark).
They don't tint down to really dark in the bright sunlight though....if you're doing a long trip in bright light and you're glare-shy like myself, then I'd wear darker glasses.
Most of my riding is in the dark or dim light, so...they're great for me.

I found them to be useable in all light conditions, with transitions in differeing light being fast - really good from dawn to dus in my experience. That was for the Rudy Impact Photo lenses.

These come with two frame options, the carbon which is pictured and a pearl white(instead of the carbon shown). They come with one lens, on the carbon version it is the red lens pictured and with the white frames you get a clear lens.

I dropped mine on some particularly scratchy "gripcrete" (like super rough sandpaper) at the airport and they got 2 little scratches, not enough to effect vision at all but they did scratch. A club mate of mine had hers run over by a truck and the lenses scratched badly (big surprise!) BUT they didn't shatter AND she straightened out the frames, got new lenses and still wears them!

Yes. The lenses go from clear to a darker tint in a very short time once exposed to light. The darkness of the tint depends on the amount of light they are exposed to.

I recently started wearing the Rydon Impact X photochromic glasses & have found that they are fine in bright sunlight. I previously wore Oakley Jawbone with the photochromic lense and the Impact X photochromic lense is very similar. If you're planning on looking directly at the sun they're not the best but I don't imagine you'll be doing that so they're otherwise fine in bright light. I have a small face and the frames fit me well.

I have the clear lenses and they're absolutely fine on a very sunny (Australian definition of sunny!) day. They darken / lighten very subtly, so you cant tell they've changed - until you take them off and get blinded!

Hi - I have the clear frame/clear lens combo and used them comfortably in the australian summer. Per the rudy project website the range of light is 18 - 76%. You can compare this to the other lenses on offer on that website.
I have used them in night conditions (wind/water/bug protection) and never bothered to replace them with my darkest lenses in the brightest summer days. Note though that my clear lenses are not polarised, though rudy do offer some options there with less range.

Yes. I have worn these on a blazingly sunny day in Melbourne (Aust) and found them adequate. They won't go as dark as non-photochromatic lenses but i found they did go dark enough. These glasses are awesome - i can't recommend them more highly

I am looking for the "Holy Grail" in terms of glasses that don't fog. Currently I have dhb which are great glasses but do fog in cold / damp conditions. Can someone comment on how resilient this more expensive model is to fogging?
Thanks!

I ride in Sydney, Australia, which has just come out of winter. I did notice that early mornings when the temp was around 10-12 degrees C, I would fog up when stopped at the traffic lights, but as i started moving again the fogging disappeared. As the temp increasedfogging completely disappears. For me, this is a very small concern as they are awesome glasses.

Answer:
Firstly - these glasses are excellent quality and very durable. However, they do fog up slightly from time to time during the cold months, but only when you stop or are going really slow up a mental hill climb. As far as I can tell, the design has remained the same for the last 8 years or so - that's how long I've had mine. The hinge works well and is pretty tough. No problems when folding them up and stowing them in your back pocket. Spare lenses are not cheap, but from my experience you get what you pay for. Hope this helps.
