The XR is for higher mileage, neutral runners who transition between trail and pavement. Great fit comes from sensiflex, a stretchy reinforcement on the ball of the foot, and the sensifit system to wrap around the upper instep precisely. Waterproof membrane wraps the toes and ball of the foot, but leaves the rest to breathe, so you don't soak your shoes from the inside out!
An oversized tendon midsole component provides a smooth cushioned ride with energy return for long runs. The chevron pattern contagrip outsole ensures precise grip on virtually any surface. The neutral version has a symmetrical 3 piece midsole, and fully welded sensifit upper.
About Offroad Running Shoes
Offroad or "trail" shoes offer increased outsole traction and uppers with toe bumpers and reinforced stitching for more durability. The foot often sits slightly lower to the ground than usual for stability and responsiveness. Offroad shoes often have less cushioning than a road shoe because they're designed for softer surfaces. You should choose offroad shoes if you do a lot of off-road running and need shoes with extra traction, more durable uppers and extra protection from the terrain.
