- Full Length PowerGrid for revolutionary cushioning
- Engineered stability in the heel crash pad
- Increased stability due to medial flair

- New 3mm HRC+ Strobel board for instant step-in comfort
- Female
- Male
PowerGrid is the highest quality foam ever used in a running shoe. It is 15% lighter and 20% more durable than the Saucony SuperLite used in the previous Triumph and this has a massive effect on the weight of the shoe. The 9 has shed over 30g around 10% of its overall weight! Because of this the new version is also more flexible, responsive and the cushioning is more dynamic. The shoe feels less stiff than previous versions too as the one piece cushioning unit removes the needs for glues and skins on the foams. PowerGrid foam also retains the cushioned feel longer.
The Triumph 9 also uses Saucony’s exclusive IBR+ outsole giving more grip and durability than any other outsole on the market. We know other companies have got this coming, but Saucony have it first! IBR+ is 40$ lower density (and therefore lighter) than standard blown runner and it’s also 50% more energy absorbing (which to us runners means it’s 50% more cushioned).
Also added to the new version is Sauc-fit. Previously only available in Saucony’s £140 Cortana, Sauc-fit locks the heel in place yet allows the midfoot and forefoot to move separately. This gives greater flexibility to the shoe and reduces the risk of blistering under the arch.
Finally, the Strobel board (that’s the red cushioning you see when you lift the sockliner of a Saucony shoe has been DOUBLED in thickness to increase the cushioning even more!

About Cushion Running Shoes
To determine the correct type of running shoe for your feet, use the tried and tested "wet foot test". Dip your foot into water and then stand on a surface that will show your footprint - a towel or piece of paper or cardboard. The shape of your wet footprint indicates the amount of stability you might need in your shoe.
If your footprint looks like the one on the right (with a very narrow band or no band at all between the forefoot and the heel) then you should choose shoes from the cushion category on this page Cushioned shoes generally have the softest midsoles and the least added stability. They're built on a semicurved or curved last to encourage foot motion, which is helpful for runners who have rigid, immobile feet (underpronators). You should buy these if you're an efficient runner whose feet don't roll inwards excessively (overpronate) when you run.
About the Saucony brand
From the GRID cushioning system through Custom Ride Management to dual density midsoles, all Saucony's technologies are based on concepts which have been tried and tested over many years. Furthermore all are conceived from sound principals, based on extensive biomechanical research and developement. Be it in the search for comfort or injury prevention.
