The ProGrid Peregrine 2 s the great new off-road shoe from Saucony's minimalist range. The Peregrine is a low profile off-road shoe giving the runner greater control when crossing even the most demanding of terrain.
The second version of the Peregrine retains the really aggressive outsole which provides the grip needed in true British off-road conditions. In response to the demand from UK runners, this shoe has had its multi-directional tread deepened from the first draft of the design and we're sure it's going to become a favourite.
In addition to the great control and grip the Peregrine provides, it is also very lightweight and flexible for such a well cushioned shoe. The Peregrine features the same 4mm heel drop as the Kinvara and the Mirage which gives a unique feel and stability from a neutral off-road shoe.
The one piece mesh upper with exoskeleton keeps the foot in position without using excessive overlays that can cause blisters and irritation. Saucony have also removed part of the “vamp” structure across the forefoot, to give more freedom to the toes and metatarsal heads in the ball of the foot.
About Offroad Running Shoes
Offroad or "trail" shoes offer increased outsole traction and uppers with toe bumpers and reinforced stitching for more durability. The foot often sits slightly lower to the ground than usual for stability and responsiveness. Offroad shoes often have less cushioning than a road shoe because they're designed for softer surfaces. You should choose offroad shoes if you do a lot of off-road running and need shoes with extra traction, more durable uppers and extra protection from the terrain.
