The ProGrid Ride is one of Saucony’s best selling shoes thanks to its cushioned yet responsive feel. The Ride is a versatile training shoe with enough cushioning to provide protection on long runs, yet is also responsive enough for faster, shorter runs. If the Triumph is the luxury, plush Grand Tourer of cushioning shoes, the Ride is definitely the hot hatch!
This latest version has lost weight and improved cushioning by slightly adjusting the compound in the blown rubber outsole. Saucony have also used their top-grade EVA cushioning in the midsole, helping to shed further weight, improve cushioning and maintain durability.
The top-loaded SRC in the forefoot offers even more protection at toe-off along with Hydrator moisture management fabric around the collar of the shoe to keep your feet cool and dry. Finally, the Ride 4 also has the upgraded Ortholite sockliner which provides extra padding, but also anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties.
About Cushion Running Shoes
To determine the correct type of running shoe for your feet, use the tried and tested "wet foot test". Dip your foot into water and then stand on a surface that will show your footprint - a towel or piece of paper or cardboard. The shape of your wet footprint indicates the amount of stability you might need in your shoe. If your footprint looks like the one on the right (with a very narrow band or no band at all between the forefoot and the heel) then you should choose shoes from the cushion category on this page Cushioned shoes generally have the softest midsoles and the least added stability. They're built on a semicurved or curved last to encourage foot motion, which is helpful for runners who have rigid, immobile feet (underpronators). You should buy these if you're an efficient runner whose feet don't roll inwards excessively (overpronate) when you run.
About the Saucony brand
From the GRID cushioning system through Custom Ride Management to dual density midsoles, all Saucony's technologies are based on concepts which have been tried and tested over many years. Furthermore all are conceived from sound principals, based on extensive biomechanical research and developement. Be it in the search for comfort or injury prevention.
