This Saucony Progrid Ride 5 Shoes is no longer available although you may find similar or newer versions below:
Dynamic training shoe which still has plenty of cushioning and substance to get you through whatever mileage you’re training at.
The new Ride 5 is a whole 30g lighter than its predecessor, yet it has more cushioning and protection from the road. The new version retains the great responsive feel of previous Rides and the loss of weight further adds to the feel of this shoe.
Other developments for this new addition are the use of IBR plus in the outsole which is lighter and more cushioned than any other outsole material on the market, saving further weight, but maintaining durability. The new bevelled heel gives a smoother transition after heel-strike and sets the foot into a more stable position reducing the inclination to over-pronate.
As part of the Geometry of Strong range, the new Ride 5 is also built on Saucony’s revolutionary 8mm last, meaning that the heel-to-toe ratio is reduced. 8mm puts every runner in a more balanced, comfortable and powerful position without compromising cushioning or stability. The new Geometry of Strong design lets you land further midfoot, striking with less impact, giving you greater stability and control.
In this position your ankles, calves, knees, quads and hamstrings are in better alignment. And better able to absorb the impact of the road. This new alignment puts you in a more spring-like position, and works with your body’s natural ability to coil and rebound.
To determine the correct type of running shoe for your feet, use the tried and tested "wet foot test". Dip your foot into water and then stand on a surface that will show your footprint - a towel or piece of paper or cardboard. The shape of your wet footprint indicates the amount of stability you might need in your shoe. If your footprint looks like the one on the right (with a very narrow band or no band at all between the forefoot and the heel) then you should choose shoes from the cushion category on this page Cushioned shoes generally have the softest midsoles and the least added stability. They're built on a semicurved or curved last to encourage foot motion, which is helpful for runners who have rigid, immobile feet (underpronators). You should buy these if you're an efficient runner whose feet don't roll inwards excessively (overpronate) when you run.
From the GRID cushioning system through Custom Ride Management to dual density midsoles, all Saucony's technologies are based on concepts which have been tried and tested over many years. Furthermore all are conceived from sound principals, based on extensive biomechanical research and developement. Be it in the search for comfort or injury prevention.
