About MTB Slick Tyres
These road tyres will fit Mountain Bike wheels and are primarily for road and light trail use. They will be faster and grip better than a standard ‘knobbly’ styled cross country tyre on road. These tyres work by putting a large area of grippy rubber in contact with the road so they only need a minimal tread pattern. This semi-slick design reduces rolling resistance and improves both speed and safety. Sharp objects like thorns and glass are likely to work their way through your tyres and cause punctures so choose a model with built-in puncture protection. After all, you will want to get home from work or morning ride on time... especially if it's raining! Kevlar shielding as found in the Schwalbe tyre range is a common choice and works well at reducing the amount of punctures. Some Continental tyres even come with a 1 year anti puncture guarantee and use a Kevlar and Polyamide filaments to form a protective belt under the tread.
About the Schwalbe brand
For over 70 years Schwalbe have dominated the two wheeled tyre industry in Germany and Europe, being voted best MTB tyre brand in Germany for the past two years. From the very early beginnings where the company founder, Earnest-Wilhelm Bohle capitalised on the developing cycle industry, to the ultra modern distribution facility near Cologne, Schwalbe have continued to design and manufacture some of the finest bicycle tyres available. Schwalbe's success is due in part to the effort it makes in product development from lab tests at the manufacturing facility to the hardest proving grounds of all, professional cycle racing. 'Team Gerolsteiner' achieved a very creditable 7th place overall in the 2004 Tour de France and the unique performance of team captain Davide Rebellin winning three major classic races back to back using Schwalbe tyre. Other notable succeses include Normann Stadler winning the infamous Ironman triathlon in Hawaii, riding Schwalbe Stelvio tyres.

Magazine reviews for Schwalbe City Jet MTB Tyre
Review from Cycling Plus
...Thanks to skinwall construction, the City Jet weighs the same as the City Runner, despite a slightly thicker tread that has a rubber belt underneath it to prevent punctures... Tread is minmal on the City Jet, as it should be. You don't really need any on a slick - bicycle tyres won't aquaplane like car tyres - but having some tread pattern gives you a handy wear indicator. There's a dynamo track, too.
In conclusion...
Great value, nice rolling MTB slick

Skinwall is where the side of the tyre is coloured skin (beige effectively)
See the picture of my bike below - the front tyre has the City Jet MTB tyre on the front (skinwall) and the rear is the original tyre that came with the bike (black sidewall)

This is a road cycling tyre, and you say your current tyre is an off road. Perhaps look for something for rougher terrain.

The profile is thinner but circumference the same.
When taking the tyre off, the inner might say on it the useable range (like 1.9 to 2.25).
As for inner tubes, you can use the same ones you'd normally use. Check the sizes on the tyre tho; but I know mine fit from about 1.75-2.25.

I weigh 80 kgs, and my bike 15 kgs. If I buy a set of tyres with a stated 100kg load, what is the recommended maximum luggage I should carry?

My MTB is 20 years old (so probably not that light) and I am 115KG have had no bother with these tyres over the last 5 years.

What is the puncture protection on this tyre? Does it have a Kevlar belt like the Schwalbe Marathons?
