About MTB Slick Tyres
These road tyres will fit Mountain Bike wheels and are primarily for road and light trail use. They will be faster and grip better than a standard ‘knobbly’ styled cross country tyre on road. These tyres work by putting a large area of grippy rubber in contact with the road so they only need a minimal tread pattern. This semi-slick design reduces rolling resistance and improves both speed and safety. Sharp objects like thorns and glass are likely to work their way through your tyres and cause punctures so choose a model with built-in puncture protection. After all, you will want to get home from work or morning ride on time... especially if it's raining! Kevlar shielding as found in the Schwalbe tyre range is a common choice and works well at reducing the amount of punctures. Some Continental tyres even come with a 1 year anti puncture guarantee and use a Kevlar and Polyamide filaments to form a protective belt under the tread.
About the Schwalbe brand
For over 70 years Schwalbe have dominated the two wheeled tyre industry in Germany and Europe, being voted best MTB tyre brand in Germany for the past two years. From the very early beginnings where the company founder, Earnest-Wilhelm Bohle capitalised on the developing cycle industry, to the ultra modern distribution facility near Cologne, Schwalbe have continued to design and manufacture some of the finest bicycle tyres available. Schwalbe's success is due in part to the effort it makes in product development from lab tests at the manufacturing facility to the hardest proving grounds of all, professional cycle racing. 'Team Gerolsteiner' achieved a very creditable 7th place overall in the 2004 Tour de France and the unique performance of team captain Davide Rebellin winning three major classic races back to back using Schwalbe tyre. Other notable succeses include Normann Stadler winning the infamous Ironman triathlon in Hawaii, riding Schwalbe Stelvio tyres.

Magazine reviews for Schwalbe Marathon Racer MTB Tyre
Review from Bikeradar
Introduced in 2006, the Marathon Racer is more than 100g lighter than the Marathon Slick thanks to a Kevlar bead and thinner sidewalls.
This puts it in the same weight territory as Vredestein's S.Licks, though it's still heavier than real lightweights like the Conti Gatorskin, Michelin XCR Road or Specialized Fatboy. Apart from the Gatorskin, its rolling performance isn't noticeably worse, however, and its rubber/nylon RaceGuard subtread seemed tougher to pierce. The fact that it's a 40mm section rather than 32mm or similar means it offers that bit more comfort as well. The sidewalls have a Scotchlite strip and a dynamo track, which is good news for nighttime use and helps justify the price difference over the S.Licks. On the whole, it's a good compromise between speed, puncture protection, and a reasonably low weight. If you want something faster, go for the Gatorskin; if you want tougher, the Marathon Plus.

Product Q & A
Ask your questions and share your answers.
Would these tyres be a good choice for my commute of road and cycle path.
Also which inner tubes would be a good choice, I have seen the continentals get good reviews..
Would I be able to fit these 26.1 1/2 to my wheels. My current size tyre is 26.2.2?
I have had a look at Schwalbe website guideline for these tyres and it doesn't show my 16c trim just 15c or 17c.
So I want to know if these will fit to my trims before ordering them.
My current tyre size is 26.2.2.
If they don't can you recommend a semi slick that will please. I want a fairly quick tyre but with decent puncture protection.
Which 20" in mm. is the Marathon Racer?
