About City Tyres
These tyres are designed to meet the rigours of city/trail riding and will fit Hybrid styled bikes, they are wider than a road race tyre to offer a larger contact area with the road and will provide more comfort. Wider tyres are less prone to punctures and will provide more grip. Within this range we offer semi slick or knobbly tyres, the semi slick tyres will be ideal for road use and the knobbly style will provide more grip for light trail use or loose surfaces such as gravel.
About the Schwalbe brand
For over 70 years Schwalbe have dominated the two wheeled tyre industry in Germany and Europe, being voted best MTB tyre brand in Germany for the past two years. From the very early beginnings where the company founder, Earnest-Wilhelm Bohle capitalised on the developing cycle industry, to the ultra modern distribution facility near Cologne, Schwalbe have continued to design and manufacture some of the finest bicycle tyres available. Schwalbe's success is due in part to the effort it makes in product development from lab tests at the manufacturing facility to the hardest proving grounds of all, professional cycle racing. 'Team Gerolsteiner' achieved a very creditable 7th place overall in the 2004 Tour de France and the unique performance of team captain Davide Rebellin winning three major classic races back to back using Schwalbe tyre. Other notable succeses include Normann Stadler winning the infamous Ironman triathlon in Hawaii, riding Schwalbe Stelvio tyres.

Product Q & A

I have the slimmest mudguards from SKS on my bike and I had to tweak the fasteners a little because they are made for 20 - 28c tyres.
The spikes doesn´t stick out over the sidewall so that´s no problem.
Be careful to run them in proper on bare asphalt, I got mine a little late and had to run in icy conditions. Therefore I lost 1 spike out front but the 239 left is enough.
Also surprisingly smooth wintertyre but expect spiked tyres to run with 10 - 15% more rolling resistance than a tire with road pattern !
But that just makes you stronger and you will fly when switching back in the spring !
Will the 700x28c Marathon Winter fit or should i go for the 25? Is there less grip in icy conditions the narrower you go?
Appreciate any adivce on this, thanks in advance.
Nowadays, bicycle tire sizes are all marked according to ETRTO (European Tire and Rim Technical Organization) standard. However, older English and French tire size dimensions are still used as well.
For example the ETRTO size specification 37-622 indicates the width of 37 mm and the tire inner diameter of 622 mm. This dimension is clear and allows a precise classification of the rim size.
French size markings (e.g. 700 x 35C) give the approximate tire outer diameter (700 mm) and width (35 mm). The letter at the end indicates the inner diameter of the tire. In this case, C stands for 622 mm
These studded tires will fit your wheels. The bigger question is whether your bike has enough clearance (at the forks/brakes and rear-stays/brakes. If you are riding a true commuter bike, or cyclocross bike, you will have enough room. But if you are riding a road racing bike, you will not have the needed clearance for these tires.
