Although the tube is made in Indonesia, It is made to the high German quality you come to expect. This very tough tube has to be "in my humble opinion" one of the best buys on the market. I really like the extra long Presta Valve. 08 July 2010

Great! Combined with Schwalbe marathon plus tires I have not had a puncture since they have been on the bike - about 2 years now. Whats more, I have only pumped the tires up about 3 times - and thats more because I felt I should than they really needed it. Had held over 100PSI for months of use. Very impressive. Have just put schwalbe tires and tubes on another of my bikes. Can't rate them highly enough! 17 June 2011

Decent buy Good value, and it does the job. The quality of the rubber is reasonable for this price. I think it's probably difficult to find better value than Schwalbe for these type of things. Ok, not the outright cheapest, but you don't get "cheap rubbish" with them either. 15 February 2013

Answer:

I would advise for the 18-28 tube. You'll have an easier time making it fit and it will be lighter.

The 28-42 is very wide and beefy. I wouldn't recommend it for anything smaller than a 32 actually.

I'd go for the larger ones. If you use the smaller size you'll probably stretch the tube and offer a thinner tube wall against punctures

They all mean the same.

You need the Presta - 40mm 700 x 28 / 42 option. This is suitable for wider city/urban tyres such as yours.

700 x 18 / 28 is for skinny race tyres.

Nowadays, bicycle tire sizes are marked according to ETRTO
(European Tire and Rim Technical Organization) European standard.
However, older English and French tire size dimensions are still commonly used as well. The size you have quoted refer to the French size with the outer diameter ( 700mm) and width ( 35mm ). You should be able to find a suitable tube very easily using those dimensions. What you will always find is that the tubes work over a variety of tyre sizes, and so will quote a size range rather than just a specific width as can be seen in my product recommendation.

The 28/42 is the width range, ie I have 700 x 35 and use this to, however my road bike 700 x 23 couldnt use these as its below 28.

Long story short 28 to 42 is the width.

The '40mm' denotes the length of the valve.

They sure do.
It comes out with the dust cap when all you want to do is add air, completely deflating your tyre in about 1.5 seconds!
It is then pretty much impossible to get out of the dust cap, so you have to fit a new tube!

depends on your tyres. They limit the ultimate expansion of the tube. Standard road tyres 700c x 23 or 25 normally take up to about 120 psi. It will say on the tyre wall what the recommended running pressure is.

Do these tubes have a clear dust cap?

I just purchased a new bike and the tyres have a clear dust cap, which I think looks really cool. The stem is about 45mm and they hold there pressure really well so I have a hunch they may be Swalbe's.

Hi., I bought same tire. Inner tube I bought was a Schwalbe Road inner Tube Presta-40mm 700x28/42 . At first I thought it wasn't going to fit, (looked too big) but I strapped the tire onto the rim with tape as I fitted the inner tube inside it onto the rim. The tire is much bigger than I'm use to as well but then again I'm changing over to a more rugged tire from a thin road tire and inner tube. This combination works well for me so far and it has been a week since fitting them on the rim. Fits well, no issues yet after 80 km..

The 18/28 tubes will be more easily fitted and will work quite well. The 28/42 will be more of a problem to stuff into the tyre and may end up with a fold if your are not careful but will also work. I personally would use the 18/28 tube.
