About Performance Saddles
Performance saddles are narrower than the models designed for shorter ride comfort. They're intended for riders who have a committed riding style with weight on hands and feet so they're narrower and lighter. High tech padding materials and flexible body designs keep your pressure points comfortable and lightweight chassis components keep the weight down. Most have some kind of ergonomic design to reduce pressure on nerves and allow unrestriced blood flow to your sensitive areas. Womens models have a wider design to suit their naturally wider pelvis. Saddle widths vary across the ranges from narrow (upto 130mm), medium (upto 138mm) to wide (upto 146mm). Narrower saddles are the popular choice for longer distance riders as they do not cause the hips to be placed in an unnatural position. Wider saddles will often feel comfortable initially due to their greater surface area but then progressively decrease in comfort as the miles increase, the correct choice of saddle is a case of getting the balance between initial comfort and overall comfort.
About the SDG brand
Jerome’s first product was a seat made specifically for mountain bikers, replacing the delicate leather used by traditional European seat makers with a super-tough and light weight material known as “Kevlar”. Operating from a small factory in Southern California (a place they still call home), S.D.G. crafted unique, high-quality seats by hand, slowly carving out a niche among the mountain bike cognoscenti. During the mid 1990’s S.D.G. introduced some of the best-loved, lightest weight saddles, featuring super-light foams, and distinctively stitched covers. Many have become “classics”, and some, like the Bel Air, Satellite and Slim Jim, are still in production. By the end of the ‘90’s S.D.G. seats were standard equipment on most top-shelf mountain bikes.

Magazine reviews for SDG Women's Allure Black/Grey Saddle with Ti Rails
Review from Bikeradar
At just 244g the new SDG Allure is one of the lighter women's saddles available. It comes in two colour scheme (black/grey or white/pink) and with titanium rails and the perfect amount of firm foam padding. It's one of the most comfortable saddles we've tried.
The shape's great, with a hint of a scoop on top. The comfort cut-out has nicely shallow, rounded edges, and the narrow nose aids grip and avoids chafing.
The relatively slender rear offers plenty of support for trails and climbs, while still letting us slide off the back for steeps without any nasty crotch grab.
We'd rather not see embroidery on the vulnerable corners - girls drop bikes too - but as an alternative to the BelAir, which plenty of women use in preference to a traditional sofa-esque perch, this gets top marks.
Great women's saddle - we're holding out for a cowhide version, though.
