The self-shaping padding, the anatomical cutout and the independant rear make it the optimum solution for those seeking performance without compromising comfort.
After achieving unexplored results in the anatomic study of ladies saddles the Diva Gel Flow has been introduced. Using Gel Flow gel inserts under sit bones and around cutout to improve long term comfort. The Anatomic design and use of cutouts reduce pressure to sensitive areas.
About Performance Saddles
Performance saddles are narrower than the models designed for shorter ride comfort. They're intended for riders who have a committed riding style with weight on hands and feet so they're narrower and lighter. High tech padding materials and flexible body designs keep your pressure points comfortable and lightweight chassis components keep the weight down. Most have some kind of ergonomic design to reduce pressure on nerves and allow unrestriced blood flow to your sensitive areas. Womens models have a wider design to suit their naturally wider pelvis. Saddle widths vary across the ranges from narrow (upto 130mm), medium (upto 138mm) to wide (upto 146mm). Narrower saddles are the popular choice for longer distance riders as they do not cause the hips to be placed in an unnatural position. Wider saddles will often feel comfortable initially due to their greater surface area but then progressively decrease in comfort as the miles increase, the correct choice of saddle is a case of getting the balance between initial comfort and overall comfort.

Magazine reviews for Selle Italia Women's Diva Gel Flow Saddle
Review from Cycling Plus
Selle Italia have created the Diva Gel Flow to answer the specific needs of female riders, no matter what their preferred riding style.
The 160mm-wide saddle has a breathable full grain leather cover, underneath which are different thicknesses of silicone gel inserts, zoned for maximum comfort at the sit bones and also around the generous cutout. It's pretty light at just 265g.
In use, it's supportive, provides good pressure relief, even when working hard, and feedback is good, with little drop off in power. Though marketed as all-purpose, it's better suited to more upright riding, as the nose is a little unforgiving when on the drops.
Excellent build quality and long ride comfort

It depends what you define as bulky. I use this saddle on my road bike and mtb, and it is bigger than more race oriented saddles (looks bigger than my Fizik Aliante); it is after all a wider and deeper saddle - having said that I have the white one, maybe the black would look more streamlined.
For me it was about comfort - I have had numerous 'racy' saddles like the Specialized. Ruby Gel - (ouch!) so I don't mind a little extra bulk if I am happy on the bike. It is lighter than some of the other saddles I have used that appear to be more performace oriented too.
I guess the bottom line is yes it is bulkier than 'flatter' less padded roadie saddles, however, it does not look out of place on a road bike, if that helps!
I have attached pics of the saddle on my TCR Alliance 1, and also my Giant Trance.
I just got one of them and it is not as bulky as you think! Just the same size as a default seat you get when purchasing a bike with just more cushioning! Hope it helps :)
The saddle is not bulky when you hold it, it looks the part so shouldn't be too large for your bike.
I will be taking part in a 450km cycling challenge across Vietnam over a 10 day period and wanted to know if this saddle would be suitable? or if the other slightly cheaper stella saddle would be a better option because of the width?
It's the first seat that my wife actually LIKES!
Towards the 8th day started to feel the saddle sore, but only for like the first 15 minutes when you sit on the bike in the morning and then it's fine once you readjust back into riding!
I was pretty bad with my preparation and only got a new saddle the week before flying out to Vietnam and I'm so very glad I did even though I knew it was a risk knowing it wouldn't have been enough time to 'break it in'.
I bought this one http://www.wiggle.co.uk/selle-italia-womens-gel-flow-small-saddle/ after going into a bike shop to get a 'saddle fitting' they said the small would be better for me - they didn't have it in stock there, but wiggle did! so yay! Thank you!
Most people are a small when it comes to sit bone width apparently, but it's less damage to you to get the wider one than to get one that's too small for you so its best if you get measured or try and measure at home (I failed when trying to measure myself - so went back into the shop to double check - they have a thing you sit on which has a chart, so don't worry about anyone being up there measuring you with a measuring tape which is what I thought would happen, so was very happy to see that chart) I'm a novice cyclist so I'm not familiar with these things! :)
When I received the saddle I took it out for a 10km ride without any cycling shorts to really try it out and see what it felt like and oh my - I don't think I've ever sat on a saddle that felt so hard and uncomfortable - but I guess this would be the breaking in process..so be sure to give it a chance - just stick with it for a couple of more rides!
After reading and researching whether or not I got the correct width, the correct style etc. I read somewhere that the muscles around the sit bones need adjusting to the saddle so it may hurt the first couple of rides and then it's like any other muscle pain - you just need to give it time to recover and get stronger! (That's what I kept telling myself anyway and it helped me get through the initial discomfort).
But seriously, during the 450km cycle challenge with the addition of cycling shorts, this saddle was... beautiful! :)
I would recommend this saddle though, depending on your bike and sitting position, it's good for a road bike, riding on the hoods and drops. Not sure if it would be good for more upright....
goodluck ! ;)
I would advise visiting your local bike shop and trying out a few different saddles.
Can you confirm that this is definitely the 152 mm size?
I have just measured mine at the widest point and it is definitely 152mm not 160mm.
So before buying the Diva Gel Flow Saddle, just wondering if this:
will fit onto the saddle rail nicely?
Does Wiggle have the different size options available as there seem to be no options here!
