This Selle San Marco Concor Carbon FX Protek Saddle is no longer available although you may find similar or newer versions below:
The Concor Carbon FX Protek Saddle has a new shape and new colours. Developed following suggestions of the MTB Teams sponsored by San Marco, the restyling of the design aimed to make the saddle even lighter and more comfortable.
A new easy and aggressive shape, which has not only changed aesthetically, but also from the point of view of comfort from last years saddle. These changes have an effect on the saddle making now more comfortable, without affecting the sinuous line with a raised tail, typical of “waved” saddles.
It still retains the successful technological features such as the silicone supports that have been integrated in the cover and are distributed in the areas subject to most wear. Not only does it offer protection for the saddle but increase control available to the rider when riding in the saddle.
With a new padding material PEBAX® foam used that is ultra light weight but also has excellent spring back and elastic return offering increased levels of comfort.
New DNA unidirectional carbon rail is the longest carbon rail in the market allowing one of the best adjustments in the forward and backward movement of any saddle out there.
PeBax Foam Padding
Selle San Marco introduce Pebax foam to the saddle industry. A new saddle material for padding with extraordinary key technological benefits such as ultra light weight (40% lighter than the best EVA foam used on other saddles). Bio-compatibility with outstanding shape recovery which allows it to have no mechanical property loses during repeated impacts. In addition it shows excellent spring back as well as accurate dimensional stability. These features allow the saddle to lighter and more comfortable.
Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic
Shell with variable carbon percentage according to the needs or performance required for the saddle. The lengthened carbon fibre reinforces the shell to obtain a very strong, flexible and light material. This mix of materials enables the shell to keep its shape unchanged through years.
Multilayer carbon rail with internal strengthening waist in aluminium. The particular and unique structure makes it extremely strong in its more critical area – the attachment of the saddles - yet the lightest in its category.
This cover is breathable and hard wearing. This material also offers better adherence to the padding, emphasizing the ergonomic shapes of the saddle. It is less deformable and lighter than traditional materials. The particular surface assures an anti-skid effect with an extraordinary grip on the saddle. Its composition respects the standards of biocompatibility.
This system enables to increase the rigidity of the rail, avoiding useless spin and torsion of the saddle, without compromise the comfort during the performance. The crossing X shape knot (Dinamyc Node Action) is the point where all the forces concentrate. Localize the forces enables to create an additional support only in a well-defined area of the rails and in this way you can also contain the weight.
Performance saddles are narrower than the models designed for shorter ride comfort. They're intended for riders who have a committed riding style with weight on hands and feet so they're narrower and lighter. High tech padding materials and flexible body designs keep your pressure points comfortable and lightweight chassis components keep the weight down. Most have some kind of ergonomic design to reduce pressure on nerves and allow unrestriced blood flow to your sensitive areas. Womens models have a wider design to suit their naturally wider pelvis. Saddle widths vary across the ranges from narrow (upto 130mm), medium (upto 138mm) to wide (upto 146mm). Narrower saddles are the popular choice for longer distance riders as they do not cause the hips to be placed in an unnatural position. Wider saddles will often feel comfortable initially due to their greater surface area but then progressively decrease in comfort as the miles increase, the correct choice of saddle is a case of getting the balance between initial comfort and overall comfort.
