Its predecessor, the Regal, was used by the greats such as Cipollini, Boonen, McEwen, Lemond and Chiappucci, and the Regal E offers the same level of comfort and support, in an updated form. All primary dimensions are identical to the original, meaning riders used to the Regal can swap between the two without effect.
Racing Team version features a unique, 3 colour design as seen in use by Alessandro Petacchi at the Centenary Giro d'Italia. Patented non-slip 'Microfeel' surface allows small adjustments for comfort whilst still offering grip to power against. Dimples in base allow for thicker padding around the sit bones without adding undue bulk or negating the stiff, supportive base.
A challenge: managing to obtain better comfort in the saddles with gel inserts, lower weight and lasting greater resistance. BioFoam padding is the San Marco solution. The Biodynamic structure that follows the movements of the pelvis during pedalling, guarantees comfort, reduced weight, lasting resistance and ideal support. The “closed cells” surface assures the water repellency of the padding.
Lighter and stronger than titanium, Xsilite was born as material of research for the pro riders saddles. It has a high percentage of silicon (here’s the name) together with particles of titanium and carbon. The result is a material with high static toughness, strong like titanium but at the same time lighter.
Core-zone is a special double-injection that allows the shell to gradually deform itself without compromises the resistance and the performance of the seating area. This technology let increase the level of comfort in a specific point of the saddle.
C.F.R.P. Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic
Shell with variable carbon percentage according to the needs or performance required for the saddle. The lengthened carbon fibre reinforces the shell to obtain a very strong, flexible and light material. This mix of materials enables the shell to keep its shape unchanged through years.
This cover is breathable and hard wearing. This material also offers better adherence to the padding, emphasizing the ergonomic shapes of the saddle. It is less deformable and lighter than traditional materials. The particular surface assures an anti-skid effect with an extraordinary grip on the saddle. Its composition respects the standards of biocompatibility. grip.
About Performance Saddles
Performance saddles are narrower than the models designed for shorter ride comfort. They're intended for riders who have a committed riding style with weight on hands and feet so they're narrower and lighter. High tech padding materials and flexible body designs keep your pressure points comfortable and lightweight chassis components keep the weight down. Most have some kind of ergonomic design to reduce pressure on nerves and allow unrestriced blood flow to your sensitive areas. Womens models have a wider design to suit their naturally wider pelvis. Saddle widths vary across the ranges from narrow (upto 130mm), medium (upto 138mm) to wide (upto 146mm). Narrower saddles are the popular choice for longer distance riders as they do not cause the hips to be placed in an unnatural position. Wider saddles will often feel comfortable initially due to their greater surface area but then progressively decrease in comfort as the miles increase, the correct choice of saddle is a case of getting the balance between initial comfort and overall comfort.
