The BG Sport MTB Shoe only supports the two bold SPD system.
These are SPD-SL pedals and the cleats need three bolts.

Answer:
They use a "Look" style bolting arrangement so if you shoes are compatible with Look (three bolts in triangular formation about 37 mm apart) they will work on these pedals. I have Louis Garneau (road) shoes and they have both SPD and Look connections, but if your shoes are mtb specific they may not have the Look connection (it is very wide and would get in the way of the sole of the mtb shoe).

the pedals come with the cleats, but you need to see if your shoes have the correct holes - 3 holes in a triangle shape.

These pedals require the use of a 3 bolt cleat but the Specialized BG sport shoes use a 2 bolt spd fitting on the sole. You will need to use a Road shoe for these pedals or order a MTB pedal for your shoes.

I pretty much bought these for triathlons (with the TR-31 shoes). I've never used clips before and bought these purely to enhance my cycle leg in tris. I'm yet to actually race with them, but I think for my level of triathlon (recreational), they'll be awesome

They can be used on any running gear as long as the threads on the crank arms match the pedals, (which are fairly std on road bike crank sets) and if you have the cleats to suit. I run Sram cranks with the same Shimano pedals no drama at all.
