Great value hub
Bought this to replace the knackered rear hub on my cross bike and there's not much to say really, it spins nice and smoothly, is well make, and while not the lightest hub on the market is an absolute bargain.

Not M525, but M525A
Perhaps it is nitpicking, but these hubs are M525A models, with the different seal design.
On the plus side, these are easy to rebuild and maintain. A good no-nonsense hub.

Great value for the money
If you need a new Shimano freewheel for a M525 hub buy this - only slighty more expensive than buying the freewheel on its own but you get the cones, bearings, seals etc plus a spare skewer and springs

Will this hub work with a 7 speed cassette?
Asked by: richb99999
You can use a 7 speed cassette on this hub, you will need a Shimano Cassette spacer though. I will link the spacer below.

Axle replacement
Since I use my bike with a child trailer, is the QR axle replaceable with a conventional non-QR axle?
Asked by: PhilAndNim
This may cause some issues with your warranty however we would advise you to contact Shimano directly.

I've purchased exactly this item. When I've gone to remove the existing hub I notice it's a M525SL. Will my purchase be compatible?
Asked by: hamishmac
