Top Features of the Shimano Dura Ace 7800 10 Speed Front Derailleur - Double
Three words have emerged as the theme for the new Dura Ace system: Speed, Smooth and Strength.
- New design front derailleur with revised angles, wide link and reinforced pivot point
- Shifting performance is now even faster, smoother and more precise
- Road
Speed and Smooth leads to effortless shifting, improved braking operation, and enhanced ergonomics. Strength is focused on the critical need for light weight without sacrificing rigidity, durability or precision.
Dura Ace incorporates high-precision mechanisms that provide amazingly sensitive controlled response and excellent power transfer efficiency. Advanced low-mass designs reduce weight while still delivering the absolute dependability that racers demand.
The Dura-Ace advantage has been proven on great road courses of the world.
About Front Derailleurs
Various derailleur systems were designed and built as far back as the late 1800s. A French bicycle tourist, writer and cycling promoter Paul De Vivie (1853-1930), invented a two speed rear derailleur in 1905 which he used on forays into the Alps, and we wonder if 20 gears are enough. Since then there has been many advancements in the number of gears, materials and reductions in weight. Wiggle lists a large selection of front and rear derailleurs catering for double and triple systems with 7, 8, 9, 10 and even 11 speed cassettes.
