About Road Shoes
Road racing cycling shoes are designed without compromise to provide optimum power transfer between your foot and the pedal, a good quality road cycling shoe is a wise investment for performance and weight saving and is often overlooked. High-tech materials and precision manufacture keep weight down and stiffness up, this means your rotational mass is lower and power transfer is higher, resulting in more forward momentum for your effort.

Shimano RT32 SPD Touring Shoes
Shimano M324 Combination Pedals
Shimano SPD MTB Cleats (SH-56)
Most of my riding is done on the daily commute (and I need to pop to meetings in 'normal' shoes sometimes), so these pedals seem to make the most sense - they only work with the SH-56 cleats. I'm open to other shoe recommendations... Thanks.
My set up is RT32 shoes with A-520 pedals (which give a bigger platform but are only single sided) and SH-51 cleats which also work well, but I think your combination is better for commuting.
The shoes are easy to walk in, which will suit your requirements.
I'm planning on buying the below:
RT32 SPD Touring Shoes
Shimano PD-M520 Pedals (which will come with SH51 cleats)
Will the above be compatible?
Also sizewise i've heard Shimano shoes can be on the small size compared to other brands. is this the case?
Shimano shoes generally seem to be sized smaller, I have both a Road and MTB pair which are each one (UK) size up, compared with my usual sizing and they fit perfectly.
Can you recommend what size I would need if I am a 44 in a Brooks running shoe.
