Shadow design with smooth skid plate surface features a super low profile design that reduces the risk of damage from trail side hazards. Using a mode converter on the body this rear derailleur works with cassette ratio of 11-23 to 11-28 tooth, or 11-32 to 11-34 tooth and a single tension spring prevents contact with the chainstay resulting in a silent ride.
About Rear Derailleurs
Various derailleur systems were designed and built as far back as the late 1800s. A French bicycle tourist, writer and cycling promoter Paul De Vivie (1853-1930), invented a two speed rear derailleur in 1905 which he used on forays into the Alps, and we wonder if 20 gears are enough..... Since then there have been many advancements, in the number of gears, materials and reductions in weight. Wiggle lists a large selection of front and rear derailleurs catering for double and triple systems with 7, 8, 9, 10 and even 11 speed cassettes.

Magazine reviews for Shimano Saint M810 9 Speed Shadow Rear Derailleur
Review from Bikeradar
Unlike the original Saint behemoth of a rear mech, this new unit embraces low profile Shadow technology and ditches the built-in axle. We've clobbered ours a few times without any shifting problems or damage to it - this new unit is likely to outlast a lighter mech.
The spring tension is stronger than on previous Shimano mechs, which makes the shifting heavier, but it's as solid as a rock through the rough stuff. The general build is ready to take a few hits.
We're really impressed with the durability, function and appearance of the renovated Saint kit.
In conclusion...
Fantastic shifting for hardcore riders, well worth a look
